The cast of Plane features several recognizable actors in an old-fashioned action thriller. Directed by Jean-François Richet from a screenplay by Charles Cumming and J.P. Davis, Plane follows a commercial pilot who must execute an emergency landing, only to land on an island that is less than friendly to visitors. Plane received a generally positive critical reception, with a 78% fresh Rotten Tomatoes score. It was also a small box office success, making $74.5 million on a $25 million budget. When it comes to releasing a decent action thriller, hiring a genre veteran is never a bad decision. Plane is not without a notable action star, having cast Gerard Butler in a role that requires brute force and warmth.
