Jack Quaid commits to the bit by getting increasingly injured during a basketball game to promote his new action comedy movie Novocaine. Directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen (Villains; Significant Other), the film follows introverted bank executive Nate Caine (Quaid), who has a rare disorder that keeps his from feeling pain. After his love interest, Sherry (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped by bank robbers, he goes on a mission to save her, using his inability to feel pain to his advantage. Reviews for Novocaine have been positive, praising its action sequences, comedic moments, and characters.

To promote Novocaine, Quaid attended a basketball game between the LA Clippers and Sacramento Kings. What Quaid’s Novocaine Promotion Says About The Action Comedy

The Actor Is Dedicated To Embodying The Movie

Quaid’s career has been taking off in 2025, having already starred in the positively-reviewed horror movie Companion earlier this year. He’s also set to star opposite Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the crime thriller Neighborhood Watch, set for release on April 25, 2025. He’s also currently filming The Boys season 5, which will end the series, while providing the voice for Clark Kent in DC’s animated show My Adventures with Superman. He has a lot on his plate, but still managed to find time to attend the Clippers game to promote Novocaine.

The actor getting increasingly injured every time the cameras cut to him during the Clippers/Kings game emphasized the comedy of the movie he’s promoting. It also reflects his character’s journey as the film goes on, with him getting increasingly beat up and harmed as he uses his inability to feel pain to his advantage. Since Novocaine‘s theatrical release is happening this week, it makes sense for the studio to go all-out in promoting it, with the actor’s attendance at the basketball game showcasing his dedication. This, in turn, could get more people in theaters to see the film.

Our Take On Quaid’s Dedicated Novocaine Promotion

His Pᴀssion For His Work Is Clear

Jack Quaid looking down at something in horror in Novocaine

Because of how strongly Quaid is promoting Novocaine, it’s clear he has lots of pᴀssion for the movies he makes. His attendance at the basketball game proves this, but also shows how much faith he has that the film will draw in audiences itching for an fun ad creative new action comedy. His attendance at the game and increasing injuries was a creative way to reflect both aspects of the movie, maybe even drawing attention it wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

Quaid is also set to appear in another action comedy, Head of State, directed by Ilya Naishuller. As of writing, the movie does not have a release date.
