Where To Watch The Child’s Play Movies

Child’s Play is one of the most iconic and well-known horror franchises of all time, and fortunately for anybody who wants to watch them, these movies are all streaming online. The slasher series began in 1988 and solidified Chucky, a doll possessed by the spirit of a crazed serial killer, as a pop-culture staple. The franchise has remained relevant for multiple decades, with six sequels, a remake, and a successful spinoff TV series that aired on Syfy and the USA Network. Over the years, Chucky has gone from being a single man to getting married to even having a child who is also possessed.

As is said in the franchise, “a true classic never goes out of style.” The Child’s Play movies prove that to be true. There is no shortage of enthusiastic Child’s Play viewers who watch the movies year-round. Viewers’ continued interest in the franchise, as well as the success of the Chucky spinoff TV show, proves that the franchise has solidified its place in entertainment history. Part of why it has been so successful is because Child’s Play is one of the most consistent horror franchises in terms of quality. There are also so many memorable lines, including “Personally, I like hiding behind an innocent face.”

Child’s Play (1988)

Streaming on Max

The 1988 movie that started it all, Child’s Play follows young Andy Barclay as he receives a seemingly harmless Good Guy doll, only to discover it’s possessed by the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif). Directed by Tom Holland, this horror classic introduced the world to Chucky, the wisecracking killer doll. Fans of the franchise can currently stream the original Child’s Play on Max, with subscriptions priced at $9.99 per month.

Child’s Play 2 (1990)

Not Available To Stream

Andy returns in the 1990 Child’s Play sequel, Child’s Play 2, as Chucky is resurrected by the Play Pals company. With director John Lafia taking over, the second Chucky movie leans into more suspenseful kills and dark humor. Unfortunately, like most of the Chucky movies Child’s Play 2 is currently unavailable for streaming.

Child’s Play 3 (1991)

Not Available To Stream

Set years after the events of Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3 takes place when Andy is now a teenager at a military academy when Chucky tracks him down for another round of terror. The third movie in the Chucky franchise, directed by Jack Bender, marked the end of the franchise’s more straightforward horror approach. At the time of writing, Child’s Play 3 isn’t available to stream.

Bride of Chucky (1998)

Not Available To Stream

Revamping the Child’s Play franchise with self-aware humor and gothic horror, 1998’s Bride of Chucky introduced Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s equally murderous lover. Directed by Ronny Yu, this entry shifted the franchise into horror-comedy territory. While it’s one of the most successful Child’s Play movies so far, Bride of Chucky is currently unavailable to stream.

Seed of Chucky (2004)

Not Available To Stream

Embracing full-on satire, 2004’s Seed of Chucky follows Chucky and Tiffany’s gender-fluid child, Glen/Glenda, as they navigate their murderous family legacy. Don Mancini, Chucky’s creator, took over as director for the first time. This bizarre yet unique installment was a hit with fans but, sadly, Seed of Chucky currently isn’t available for streaming.

Curse of Chucky (2013)

Not Available to Stream

With a tone that was a marked return to darker horror rather than the surreal lightheartedness of Seed of Chucky, 2013’s Curse of Chucky reintroduced the killer doll in a more suspenseful setting, following wheelchair user Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) as she faces Chucky’s wrath. This direct-to-video sequel revitalized the Child’s Play franchise, but, like many other installments, Curse of Chucky is not streaming on any plaform.

Cult of Chucky (2017)

Streaming On Netflix

Picking up from Curse of Chucky, the 2017 Child’s Play installment Cult of Chucky follows Nica in a psychiatric hospital where Chucky begins tormenting her – this time with multiple possessed dolls. Don Mancini continues as director, and significantly expanded the franchise’s mythology. Cult of Chucky is currently available to stream on Netflix, both on the $7.99 Basic tier and the $17.99 ad-free package.

Child’s Play (2019)

Streaming On Max

A reboot with a modern twist, Child’s Play (2019) reimagines Chucky as a rogue AI-powered doll instead of a supernatural killer. Mark Hamill voices this version of Chucky, bringing a fresh take on the character. Along with the original Child’s Play, the 2019 Child’s Play remake is available to stream on Max.

Chucky (2021–2024)

Streaming on Peacock

This TV continuation of the original Child’s Play timeline follows Chucky as he infiltrates a small town, bringing new victims and old enemies into his ᴅᴇᴀᴅly game. With Don Mancini at the helm, the show features returning characters like Andy, Tiffany, and Nica. The Chucky TV show is streaming on Peacock, with subscription priced at $7.99 per month.
