Where To Watch Opus: Showtimes & Streaming Status

Opus is the newest thriller movie from A24, the studio behind many critically acclaimed thriller and horror films. Opus follows Ariel, a young writer who gets invited to a remote compound owned by pop icon Moretti, who disappeared 30 years before the events of the film. Moretti promises that he’s going to play the “greatest album of modern times,” but Ariel quickly realizes that everything is not as it seems. Throughout the course of the film, Ariel learns more and more about Moretti and his mysterious group of followers.

Ayo Edebiri plays Ariel and John Malkovich plays the peculiar and flamboyant Moretti. Additionally, the cast of Opus includes Juliette Lewis, Amber Midthunder, and Murray Bartlett. In Screen Rant’s review of Opus, Graeme Guttmann gave the film a score of 7 out of 10 and praised Edebiri and Malkovich’s performances. However, some reviews for Opus have been much more mixed. Currently, Opus has a disappointing score of 39% on Rotten Tomatoes (via Rotten Tomatoes). However, that score could change when it is officially released on March 14, 2025.

Opus Releases In Theaters On March 14, 2025

Opus Could Be A Standout Thriller Movie This Spring

Opus originally premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2025, but now it is finally receiving a theatrical release. A24 has set Opus’ theatrical release date for March 14, 2025, so it could be a standout thriller movie this spring. This is a smart release date for this film, since moviegoers’ attention has now turned away from awards season and the Oscar nominees. Therefore, it’s possible that cinephiles will flock to theaters to watch an iconic actor like Malkovich star alongside Edebiri, who has received a lot of acclaim for shows like The Bear and movies like Bottoms.

When Will Opus Release On Streaming?

Opus Will Release On Streaming In The Summer

Since Opus has not been released in theaters yet, the exact date it will be released on streaming is currently unknown. However, based on projections, it should be available to watch on streaming services in July 2025. Therefore, after its theatrical run throughout the spring, Opus could become a streaming hit in the summer. Thriller movies tend to perform well for streaming services, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Opus continues to find an audience after its theatrical run.

Opus will be available to be watched on Max.

When it does release on streaming, Opus will be available to be watched on Max, which has exclusive streaming rights to A24’s theatrical releases. Since Max’s library currently has a lot of other A24 movies, it is the perfect streaming service for Opus.

When Will Opus Release On Digital?

Opus’ Digital Release Will Come In One Or Two Months

However, before Opus is available to be streamed on Max, fans of the film or those who missed it in theaters will be able to buy it on digital. Opus currently does not have an exact digital release date, but it will likely be available for purchase in April or May. This means that those interested in the film will likely have at least a month to watch it in theaters before it gets released on digital. Based on these release date, Opus could potentially be a very popular film throughout the spring and summer.
