Bambi: The Reckoning – Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know

Another childhood icon is getting the twisted horror treatment in Bambi: The Reckoning, and there are already a ton of terrifying updates about Jagged Edge Production’s next nightmarish opus. Based on the classic children’s novel Bambi, A Life in the Woods by Felix Salten, Bambi: The Reckoning turns the cute and cuddly deer into an instrument of destruction as he goes on a revenge-fueled rampage. The Reckoning is another installment in the burgeoning Twisted Childhood Universe that started with the surprise blockbuster smash-hit, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey back in 2022.

The basic premise of Jagged Edge’s Twisted Childhood Universe is quite simple, and it takes beloved children’s characters that are in the public domain and transforms them into horrific slasher villains. The aforementioned Blood and Honey was rushed into production after A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh lapsed into the public domain, and the multi-million-dollar windfall emboldened the studio to rush several other films into production. Bambi: The Reckoning is only one of several Twisted Childhood Universe movies in production, but it could easily be the scariest.

Being a low-budget horror movie, the production turnaround time for Bambi: The Reckoning has been quite short. With that said, the movie went into production on January 6, 2024, before quickly wrapping 20 days later. The filming wrap was commemorated by actor Joseph Greenwood who made a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter) to express his graтιтude toward the film’s production team. In March 2025, it was revealed that Bambi: The Reckoning will hit theaters in summer 2025.

Bambi: The Reckoning Cast

A Cast Of Horror Movie Stars

Like the rest of the low-budget Twisted Childhood movies thus far, the cast of Bambi: The Reckoning has been kept small. Leading the film is Roxanne McKee as Xana, a young mother who finds herself hunted by the eponymous evil deer after a car crash leaves her and her son stranded in the woods. McKee is perhaps best known for playing the role of Doreah in Game of Thrones but she also starred in Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines. Tom Mulheron has been tapped to play the role of Benji, Xana’s young son who she must protect from Bambi.

The cast of Bambi: The Reckoning includes:

While there likely won’t be too much depth to the rest of the story, copious bloodshed is expected.

The conceit of the Twisted Childhood movies is that Jagged Edge Productions takes the happiest and most lovely public-domain children’s characters and turns them into terrifying monsters. With that in mind, Bambi: The Reckoning imagines Bambi as a buck who is out for revenge against humanity for the death of his mother. Caught in the middle of Bambi’s rampage is a young mother named Xana who finds herself trapped in the woods along with her son after a car accident. While there likely won’t be too much depth to the rest of the story, copious bloodshed is expected.

Jagged Edge Productions has revealed a teaser trailer for Bambi: The Reckoning, and the latest Twisted Childhood movie looks to be delivering everything it promised. The teaser opens with hunters in the woods asking each other if they’ve ever killed a deer. The ominous scene gives way to a clip of Bambi attacking a car head-on and flipping it with his antlers. The trailer intentionally keeps Bambi’s frightening appearance a secret, and more chills are expected once the full film arrives.

Many months after the teaser, Jagged Edge dropped a full-length trailer for Bambi: The Reckoning in March 2025. Opening with Bambi stalking through the woods, the trailer then shows the enraged deer flipping the car carrying Xana and her son. Things quickly devolve into bloodshed as the mᴀssive buck begins killing indiscriminately in various gruesome ways.
