Disney’s popular TV movie franchise is set to return in a brand-new installment, and there are already a ton of exciting details about Descendants 5. With the surprise announcement of the sequel still fresh, the latest news confirms that new cast members have joined Descendants 5. Alongside returning cast members Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker, Joel Oulette, Zavien Garrett, Ryan McEwan, and Dayton Paradis have all been cast as leads. Each newcomer will take on the part of a different villain or hero’s child, with Oulette set to appear as Robbie Hood, Robin Hood’s son. Meanwhile, Garrett will play Felix, the son of Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog. McEwan and Paradis are the twin sons of Smee (Peter Pan), Squirmy and Squeaky.

Kimmy Gatewood will sit in the director’s chair and will helm the film from a script by Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer. Return To Wonderland In The Fifth Movie

Though all the plot details for Descendants 5 aren’t known yet, it has been revealed that the next movie will deal with the time travel storyline introduced in The Rise of Red. Still in Wonderland after the fourth movie, Chloe and Red must decide what happily-ever-after means for them as they deal with the fallout of their time-traveling adventure. While that plot is razor-thin for the time being, it’s clear that the fifth movie aims to flesh out Wonderland, especially by adding a bevy of new characters from some of Disney’s best movies.

How it all connects remains to be seen, but Descendants 5 could build upon The Rise of Red‘s ambitious storytelling by showing more time travel or something entirely new. The addition of new heroes, villains, and siblings also offers a chance to expand Red and Chloe as characters, especially since they seem to be taking up the mantle as the central focus of the decade-old franchise.
