Enola Holmes 3 Gets Major Filming Update From Millie Bobby Brown

Enola Holmes 3

gets an enthusiastic filming update from star Millie Bobby Brown. Serving as an adaptation of Nancy Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries book series, the first Sherlock Holmes spinoff movie was released on Netflix in 2020, with Brown playing Enola and Henry Cavill playing her famous detective brother, Sherlock. Following the success of the first film and the sequel, which was released in 2022, it was confirmed that Enola Holmes 3 is on the way from director Philip Barantini. Little information on the film, however, has been released at this early stage.

In a recent interview with Collider, Brown now reveals that Enola Holmes 3 will start filming in the very near future. Though the star and producer doesn’t reveal any story details about the threequel, she does say that she’s “excited” to get started. Check out her comment below:

“I’m going to be doing an Enola Holmes 3 this year. We start filming in the coming weeks. I’m very excited.”

A major question about Enola Holmes 3 is whether Cavill will be reprising his role as Sherlock after featuring in a supporting capacity in the previous two installments. Brown, however, doesn’t provide any concrete answers, teasing, “You’ll have to wait and see.”

What Brown’s Comment Means For Enola Holmes 3

When The Netflix Sequel Could Release

With Enola Holmes 3 seemingly set to enter production this spring, the movie unfortunately won’t be arriving in 2025. Taking the post-production pipeline into account, audiences can probably expect the third film to release on Netflix at some point in 2026. Though the story for the film remains a question mark, the Enola Holmes 2 ending provides some idea of what the next installment will be about.

Enola Holmes 2 ends with a scene that introduces Himesh Patel as Dr. Watson to Cavill’s Sherlock, and the next movie could certainly explore this dynamic. As with Cavill, however, it’s not yet known whether Patel will be returning. When ᴅᴇᴀᴅline reported that Barantini had joined the film as director in November of last year, they added that sources told them the film would be darker than the previous two installments. It was suggested that Enola Homes 3 could be similar to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), which took that franchise in a more serious direction.

Both the first and second Enola Holmes movies were well-received critically, sporting Rotten Tomatoes scores of 91% and 93%, respectively.

More Information About The Netflix Movie May Not Be Far Off

With filming on the third installment set to get underway in the near future, it’s very likely that more information regarding returning Enola Holmes cast members isn’t far away, in addition to clues about the story. Helena Bonham Carter, for example, appeared as Eudoria Holmes in both previous movies, and she may well return. Social media now plays a crucial role in generating hype for these types of projects, and Brown is sure to share posts that tease what is to come from the franchise’s future.

If reports are true and the next film takes things in a darker direction, it certainly has the potential to be the best installment in the franchise.

Hopefully, both Cavill and Patel return in Enola Holmes 3, as it would be interesting to see how this franchise captures the dynamic between these two iconic characters while maintaining a focus on Enola. If reports are true and the next film takes things in a darker direction, it certainly has the potential to be the best installment in the franchise. For now, it looks like those hoping for more concrete Enola Holmes 3 information will just have to wait a little longer.
