Maika Monroe‘s 2022 serial killer movie has landed on Netflix’s Top 10 chart in the United States. Despite making her debut in the drama At Any Price, Monroe first made waves with leading roles in the thriller The Guest and the A24 horror movie It Follows, which many consider one of the best horror films of the 2010s, and quickly established her as a certified scream queen. Afterward, however, Monroe opted for the sci-fi actioner Independence Day: Resurgence and the neo-noir H๏τ Summer Nights.
Monroe made her return to the horror genre with the psychological thriller Greta, the horror-comedy Villains, and the sci-fi horror film Significant Other. Still, Monroe maintained a constant presence in other genres, appearing in the drama Honey Boy and the action-thriller God Is a Bullet. In 2024, Monroe broke out in an even bigger way by leading Longlegs, playing the FBI agent tasked with tracking down an occultist serial killer played by Nicolas Cage. The horror movie was a huge hit, making $126 million at the box office on a budget of less than $10 million.

Watcher has landed on Netflix’s Top 10 chart in the United States. Written and directed by Chloe Okuno (V/H/S/94) in her feature debut, the 2022 psychological thriller stars Maika Monroe as a young American woman who moves to Bucharest with her husband and starts to suspect that a stranger watching her from a nearby apartment window may be a serial killer. The movie also stars Karl Glusman, Burn Gorman, Tudor Petruț, Mădălina Anea, Cristina Deleanu, Daniel Nuță, and Ciubuciu Bogdan Alexandru.
Now, three years after its release, Maika Monroe’s horror movie has become a hit on Netflix. Watcher ranks sixth on Netflix’s Top 10 movies in the United States this week. It ranks below Venom: The Last Dance, Despicable Me 4, Counterattack, To Catch a Killer, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and above Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sicario, Ted 2, and Trial by Fire.
