Alien and its sequels and prequels are available to stream online, and for now, all the Alien streaming options are in the same place. Since its inception in 1979, the Alien franchise has been followed by four more movies in the original timeline, two prequel movies that brought Ridley Scott back into the director’s chair, and two crossover movies with John McTiernan’s Predator franchise. To date, each Alien movie follows a group of people who, for one reason or another, find themselves trapped with variations of the xenomorph creature.
The core Alien movies also center around Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), whose battles with the xenomorph eventually become symbiotic by nature in Alien: Resurrection. After this, Ridley Scott returned for prequels to explain the origins of the xenomorphs before another film in the core series arrived in 2024. Disney owns the Alien movie franchise and has added it to Hulu streaming, which includes the latest film in the franchise, Alien: Romulus. There are also ways to rent and buy these movies online.
Alien (1979)
Streaming On Hulu
The movie that started it all, Alien, follows a commercial crew who encounters a distress signal that leads to them bringing a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly creature, the Xenomorph, back to the ship inside one of their colleagues. This movie is a pure horror film, more similar to a haunted house story than the sci-fi films that would follow. It includes a Final Girl in Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and pits her against an almost unstoppable force of nature in the main xenomorph.
Fans who want to stream Alien can find it on Hulu, where it moved to in March 2025. The entire franchise has moved to Hulu at this time since that is where Disney puts most of the more adult films that they own the rights to. Anyone who wants a Hulu subscription can get it for $9.99 a month with ads or $18.99 a month without ads. There is also a bundle where Hulu adds Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+ with ads for $82.99 a month or without ads for $95.99 a month.
Aliens (1986)
Streaming On Hulu
Aliens is the more action-oriented sci-fi sequel to the classic horror movie, following a troop of colonial marines headed to LV-426 to investigate a human colony that has suddenly stopped responding to communications. Sigourney Weaver is back as Ripley, and she teams up with the colonial marines to go in and take out the aliens’ menace, without realizing that one man has joined the group intending to bring a sample back to study. Aliens, the second in the franchise, is available to stream for free on Hulu.
Alien 3 (1992)
Streaming On Hulu
Many critics and fans consider Alien 3 the less successful follow-up to Alien. Directed by David Fincher, the movie follows Ripley as her escape pod crash-lands on a prison colony, but unfortunately, the xenomorph is also there with her. Despite being an often controversial Alien sequel, the film has a lot to enjoy, especially with the design of the prison island. However, Fincher still considers making the movie one of the worst experiences of his career. Fans can currently stream Alien 3 on Hulu.
Alien: Resurrection (1997)
Streaming On Hulu
The first Alien movie to feature a gruesome alien-human hybrid, Alien: Resurrection is set 200 years after Alien 3. During this time, Ripley is cloned to birth a new xenomorph queen as the military is breeding and studying the creatures using human hosts. It might be the most unique-looking of any of the core movies, with French auteur Jean-Pierre Jeanut taking on the directing duties. This was the last core movie for years and is now streaming on Hulu.
AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Streaming On Hulu
The first crossover between the Alien and Predator franchises, Alien vs. Predator focuses on a pyramid buried deep beneath the ice off the coast of Antarctica. When scientists send out a research team to investigate, they discover that the pyramid is the site of a battleground between xenomorphs and Yautja. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil), the film tried to adapt the comics, but it was mostly shredded by critics and dismissed by audiences. It is available to stream currently on Hulu.
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
Streaming On Hulu
The sequel to Paul W.S. Anderson’s Alien vs. Predator, Alien vs. Predator: Requiem sees aliens and predators let loose on a small Colorado town when a Predator ship crash-lands in the nearby hills. The film received an even lower Rotten Tomatoes score than AVP, and it ended the crossover franchise for good, with Alien and Predator going back to their own franchises for the next installments after this film’s failure at the box office. The AVP sequel is also currently on Hulu for streaming.
Prometheus (2012)
Streaming On Hulu
The first of Ridley Scott’s return to Alien movies, Prometheus is a prequel that explores the origin of the Engineers and the xenomorph creatures themselves. When a team of explorers discovers a clue to the origins of humankind on Earth, the Weyland Corporation funds a journey to send them into the darkest corners of the universe. Once there, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race. Prometheus is also streamable through Hulu.
Alien: Covenant (2017)
Streaming On Hulu
Alien: Covenant is the direct sequel to Prometheus and further fleshes out the franchise history before the original 1979 Alien movie. The film takes place directly after the events of Prometheus, as members of a colony ship discover what appears to be an unmarked paradise where they meet David, the android survivor of the Prometheus mission. There was supposed to be a third movie in this part of the franchise, but the box-office disappointment canceled any future films in this storyline. Alien: Covenant is also available to stream on Hulu.
Alien: Romulus (2024)
Streaming On Hulu
Instead of letting Ridley Scott finish his prequel trilogy. Fox canceled his storyline and decided to make another film in the core franchise, this one taking place between the events of the first Alien movie and Aliens. This film sees a group of people trying to escape Weyland-Yutani, heading to a seemingly abandoned Weyland-Yutani station to steal equipment for a journey to a safe planet not affiliated with Weyland-Yutani. However, the station has xenomorphs on board.

Alien: Romulus received the best reviews of any movie in the franchise since Aliens. It was a newer film, so it was kept mostly separated as a new release until March 2025, when it finally joined the rest of the Alien movies on Hulu.
