“I Immediately Turned Into This Big Manwhore”: Dave Bautista Explains “Career Turn” In New Fantasy Action Movie In The Lost Lands

Dave Bautista does something he has never done before in his upcoming film In The Lost Lands — become a man whore. He has acted in a lot of genres, recently stepping into his first action rom-com in The Killing Game, but never has he been the guy who connects romantically with multiple women in a movie like this before. Bautista’s career started in wrestling, but he has successfully transitioned into a leading actor, proving that he can crush it in any role, in any genre.

In The Lost Lands is an adaptation of the story by George R.R. Martin, who is most known as the author of Game of Thrones. Paul WS Anderson directs and his wife, Milla Jovovich, stars opposite Bautista. The movie follows the sorceress Gray Alys (Jovovich) who has been sent on a mission by the queen to obtain the power to shape-shift. In order to travel across the perilous Lost Lands, she enlists the help of a mysterious guide named Boyce (Bautista).

ScreenRant interviewed Dave Bautista about In The Lost Lands, and how he has played in many genres lately. He revealed that the role of Boyce fulfilled a long desire of his, and that he looks at this character as a cowboy. Bautista also explained how this is a career swap for him, because he has never been the cool guy who gets the girl, let alone the cool guy who makes out with all the females in the movie. Finally, Bautista shared what it was like to work with Milla Jovovich and have to kiss her while her husband directed the scene.

Dave Baustista Reveals How He Has Never Been The “Cool Lead” Before In The Lost Lands

“Now I’m Making Out With Every Female In The Film”

Bautista finds himself having chemistry with a lot of the women as Boyce in this movie. Multiple women. In multiple scenes. Basically, any woman he crosses paths with. “I’ve never been that guy,” he explains, “I’ve never been the cool lead who gets the girl.

Bautista laughs, saying that now he is the cool lead, and he is “making out with every female in the film.” We have seen him as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, Eddie in The Last Showgirl, JJ in My Spy and My Spy The Eternal City, Leonard in Knock at the Cabin, and Beast Rabban in Dune: Part Two – just to name a few of his memorable roles. None of them were like his character Boyce in In The Lost Lands. “I immediately turned into this big man whore,” Bautista exclaims, “That’s a career turn.

Dave Bautista Explains How Playing Boyce Fulfills A Long Desire Of His

“Sєxy, Sleek, And Mysterious – Those Are All My Trigger Words”

Boyce is not just a ladies man, he is a lot like a gunslinger, which is exciting to see considering that In The Lost Lands is a fantasy action movie. Bautista claims, “That was the immediate appeal when I read the script because I did see it like that. This is just a Western to me. I saw Boyce as a gunslinger.” He details that in talking to Paul WS Anderson about the character and how he saw him, he was told that Anderson wanted Boyce to “look and feel and be Sєxy and sleek and mysterious.

It was like, man, all those are all my trigger words,” Bautista jokes. “No, but I really looked at this and I thought immediately Clint Eastwood, squinty eyes, very soft spoken, and a man of few words.” He plays Boyce as very mysterious, adding, “That’s the way I approached it.

I’m happy with the film. I’m proud of it.

Bautista remarks that he is “super happy with it,” going on to say, “I’m happy with the film. I’m proud of it. I loved this opportunity to really fulfill that long desire to play a cowboy.

Kissing Milla Jovovich While Her Husband Directed Was Not Awkward At All

“It Was Just Another Day At Work”

Bautista’s co-star, Milla Jovovich, is married to In The Lost Lands‘ writer and director, Paul WS Anderson. As explained above, Bautista does a lot of kissing in the movie, and one of those women is Jovovich. Having her husband directing that could get awkward, but Bautista reveals that it was anything but: “It wasn’t [awkward] because nobody made it awkward. Nobody made it uncomfortable.

It was just another day at work,” Bautista says. “Everybody was just very matter of fact about it. We’re going to do this, and we’re going to have a kiss.” He explains that “it was another piece of the scene.” He goes on to talk about how it was comfortable working with Paul WS Anderon and Milla Jovovich, “so no, it wasn’t weird at all and nobody made it weird.” Bautista claims, “That’s when it becomes uncomfortable is when people make it weird. It just wasn’t a big deal.

We didn’t think overthink about it,” Bautista adds. “If we needed to do it again, we did it again, and then we moved on.
