Superman Star David Corenswet Reveals His Personal Kryptonite

David Corenswet reveals which personal weakness could be compared to Superman‘s Kryptonite, and it actually makes him more similar to his DCU hero. Superman‘s star-studded cast is led by the actor who could be the DC Universe’s main star, David Corenswet. Unlike superhero stars like the MCU’s Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, but similarly to his Superman predecessor Henry Cavill, David Corenswet’s roles prior to Superman weren’t as prominent as his DCU character, but his casting has been more than well-received. At six-foot-four and packed with muscle, Corenswet is a ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ringer for the Man of Steel.

David Corenswet doesn’t just resemble Superman physically. In an interview with Esquire, Corenswet was asked what his personal Kryptonite is, and he responded, “Oh, without a doubt, a good argument.” Corenswet explains that he likes to debate and discuss strong opinions, but also prefers to distance himself from a discussion before it “gets too heated.” Read Corenswet’s full response below:

“Without a doubt, a good argument. And don’t let anyone try to keep me from a very convincing one. If someone has a strong opinion about something, I can’t resist starting a conversation about it. I like debate, but I know that sometimes it’s better to walk away before the situation gets too heated.”

David Corenswet’s pᴀssion for debate and his tolerance for differing opinions are two values often seen in Superman comics. Superman may be the most open-minded hero in DC Comics, and he prefers peaceful solutions to conflict over fighting. However, Superman also knows exactly when and how to deescalate heated situations, and if the conflict calls for it, he will resort to more definitive measures. Superman may avoid heated situations, but he may also make an effort to find a peaceful resolution for everyone involved.

James Gunn’s Superman will likely zero in on Kal-El’s virtues more than previous DC movies. The difference in morality between Superman and other superheroes and metahumans could lie in their approach to conflict solving and their crime-fighting methods. Heroes like Guy Gardner may do it by the book, whereas Superman may go the extra mile to ensure everyone is truly safe and the situation doesn’t happen again. This quality could be what makes Superman a revolutionary hero in the DCU and what part of what leads Lex Luthor to hold a grudge against Superman.

The DCU Has Nailed Its Superman Casting With David Corenswet

Superhero movies have cast very talented actors in starring roles throughout the years, but each actor’s natural resemblance to their respective characters in their regular life is always a bonus. All Superman actors have displayed similar personality traits to the Man of Steel. For instance, live-action Superman actors such as Christopher Reeve, Tom Welling, Henry Cavill, and David Corenswet all possess the necessary charisma and grace to portray the Man of Tomorrow on the big screen.
