How Old Is Demi Moore

Demi Moore has a long and successful career, and she’s going through her best moment right now as the frontrunner for Best Actress at the 2025 Oscars – and here’s how old she is. The 2025 Oscars have been surrounded by controversy since before the nominees were announced, and while some movies continue to be controversial, others have stood out for their quality and performances. Such is the case for Coralie Fargeat’s body horror movie The Substance, starring Demi Moore as Elisabeth Sparks, a once popular celebrity whose fame is now declining.

Elisabeth learns of a black-market drug that, through cell replication, creates a younger and improved version of her. Elisabeth decides to try it to save her career, but it soon gets out of control with horrifying consequences. The Substance has been nominated for various awards and currently has five nominations at the 97th Academy Awards, which will take place on March 2, 2025. Among those nominations is Best Actress in a Leading Role for Demi Moore, which has re-sparked interest in her, her career, and her age.

Demi Moore was born on November 11, 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico. At the time of writing, Demi Moore is 62 years old, and her current Oscar nomination is also a huge career first for her. Before The Substance, some of Moore’s most notable works were Joel Schumacher’s St. Elmo’s Fire, the supernatural romance Ghost (where she starred alongside Patrick Swayze), and the legal drama A Few Good Men.

After working on independent movies, having cameos in movies like The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent, and some appearing in TV projects like Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, Moore found critical success once more with The Substance, which has already given her various awards, including the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Demi Moore Started Acting When She Was 18 Years Old

Demi Moore’s Career Has Been Growing Strong For More Than Four Decades

Demi Moore began her career as a model and made her film debut in 1981 in the sports drama Choices. The following year, Moore was cast as Jackie Templeton in the soap opera General Hospital. Moore’s big break arrived when she played Jules in St. Elmo’s Fire, due to which she was listed as part of the Brat Pack in the 1980s, though she has shared she isn’t very fond of that label. However, it was her performance in Ghost that gave her worldwide recognition and fame.

After movies like A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, and The Scarlet Letter, Moore starred in Striptease, in 1996. Moore broke records with her salary for Striptease, but the movie is now regarded as one of the worst movies ever made. Shaking off the failure of Striptease, Moore went on to star in the action drama G.I. Jane and went on a brief hiatus in the late 1990s/early 2000s. Moore returned to the big screen in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, where she played Madison Lee, a former angel.

Moore then appeared in movies like Another Happy Day, LOL, Rough Night, and Songbird, but her acting career regained force when she was cast in The Substance. At the time of writing, Demi Moore is the favorite to win Best Actress at the 2025 Oscars, a long-awaited recognition for a talented actress with a career of over four decades that has covered a bit of everything.
