What This Means For Audrey’s Children
The Movie Sheds Light On The Untold Story Of A Hero
The Audrey’s Children trailer opens with a lighthearted and hopeful tone, following the тιтular doctor’s footsteps as she becomes the first female Chief of Oncology. However, it dramatically shifts to an impactful tone as Audrey fights to find solutions to keep the cancer children alive, which leads her to co-found the first Ronald McDonald House. At the same time, the trailer offers a glimpse into Dormer’s fearless and fiery character, who shares some personality traits with her Game of Thrones character, Margaery Tyrell.
Before Blue Harbor acquired the stateside distribution rights, resulting in a nationwide theatrical release in March, Audrey’s Children had already been a film festival darling. With “pᴀssionate support” from the Ronald McDonald House Charities and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the biographical drama won the Dr. Gabriel Sara Humanitarian Award and the Tribeca Award in 2024, with its importance also evident in the trailer in the real-world good it’s striving to do.
Our Take On Audrey’s Children
Dormer’s Audrey Evans Is Nuanced
One of the reasons that led Dormer to say yes to the role is likely the impact Dr. Evans made and the lack of recognition for her work. The actor was initially shocked when learning that Evans wasn’t a household name, given that the legendary oncologist quite literally changed the world for millions of children and families. The Elementary actor’s best roles have been powerful female characters, and, similarly, she looks to be delivering a nuanced performance as Dr. Evans.
As shown in the trailer, Dormer’s oncologist is very determined. She acts like the rules don’t exist and pushes hard to make changes, which is what’s asked of her, but Dr. Evans isn’t as emotionally detached as she seems at first. The Audrey’s Children trailer teases her anger and extreme, but most important of all, her compᴀssion, as Evans cares deeply for her patients and sees them as her own children.
