Blake Lively Might Be Trying To Murder Anna Kendrick In Another Simple Favor Trailer

Blake Lively might be trying to murder Anna Kendrick in the trailer for Another Simple Favor. A sequel to 2018’s A Simple Favor, the upcoming film finds another murder taking place, this time at Emily’s extravagant wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman on the beautiful island of Capri. Other than Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, and Ian Ho also reprise their roles from the first film, with Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, and Allison Janney joining the cast.

Now, ahead of the sequel’s premiere at the SXSW film festival in just over a week, Prime Video has premiered the first official teaser trailer for Another Simple Favor. Set to an Italian cover of “Crimson and Clover,” the trailer finds Blake Lively’s Emily Nelson reappearing after having been sentenced to 20 years in prison for murder, and invites Anna Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers to be her maid of honor, which might just be a ploy to get revenge, or perhaps even murder her. Watch the trailer below:

What The Another Simple Favor Trailer Means For The Sequel

Is Emily Trying To Murder Stephanie?

The trailer for Another Simple Favor presents several mysteries, the biggest one being how Emily is out of prison after being sentenced to two decades for the double murder of her father and sister during A Simple Favor‘s ending. However, Emily is free, and wants Stephanie to be her maid of honor in her wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman played by Michele Morrone. Considering that Emily is a con artist, the wedding in and of itself is likely a ruse driven by ulterior motives, possibly regarding his wealth.

The trailer also teases Emily getting revenge against Stephanie for stealing her life and taking her kid, Nicky, away from her. In a bit of meta-humor, Emily tells Stephanie, “If I do try to murder you, it will make an amazing sequel.” In no short time, a murder appears to take place at the wedding, though the victim remains a mystery. There is a quick glimpse of Stephanie seemingly stabbing someone, suggesting she could be framed for the murder. However, the trailer ends with a body, seemingly male, falling off a cliff, suggesting that will be the cause of death.

Expect More Twists & Turns

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively having a martini in A Simple Favor

A Simple Favor was one of the most twisty movies in recent memory and, judging by the trailer for Another Simple Favor, the sequel should be equally twisty, or perhaps even more so. It’s unclear how Emily gets out of prison, and what exactly her motives are regarding asking Stephanie to be the maid of honor at her wedding to a wealthy businessman. No matter, more murder and betrayal are bound to occur at Emily’s wedding in Another Simple Favor.

Another Simple Favor releases on Prime Video on May 1.
