Michelle Trachtenberg has died. The actor, who was born in New York City on October 11, 1985, began her career when she was just three years old, in a Wisk detergent commercial. Her first credited television role came in 1994, when she debuted as Little Pete’s friend Nona in Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete. She went on to take on many roles in film and television, with one of her most prominent coming when she joined the main Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast as Buffy’s little sister Dawn Summers, beginning in season 5.
New York Post now reports that Michelle Trachtenberg has died at age 39. According to the report, she was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at her New York apartment on Wednesday morning, and the death is not under investigation for being suspicious. No further details about the situation are known at the time of writing.

Before hitting the age of 18, Michelle Trachtenberg had already starred in a huge variety of projects, including all three Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons in which Dawn appeared, the live-action Matthew Broderick comedy Inspector Gadget, and the feature-length adaptation of the iconic children’s book Harriet the Spy, which also starred Rosie O’Donnell and Eartha Kitt. She continued to show off her versatility as a performer throughout the 2000s with roles in movies including the sports dramedy Ice Princess, the horror remake Black Christmas, the LGBTQ+ drama Mysterious Skin, and the Zac Efron comedy 17 Again.
Michelle Trachtenberg also starred in several music videos in the 2000s, including Trapt’s “Echo” and Fall Out Boy’s “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race.”
As an adult, she continued to take on key roles in well-known projects. This includes playing self-serving socialite Georgina Sparks in 28 episodes of Gossip Girl and Silas’ love interest Emma Karlin in Weeds season 7 in addition to appearing in episodes of other series such as NCIS: Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, Sleepy Hollow, and Robot Chicken.
