Daredevil and Kingpin’s potential involvement in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 installment gets a major new Marvel Cinematic Universe update. Peter Parker is getting ready for his return to the MCU timeline, as Holland is set to start principal pH๏τography on Spider-Man 4 later this year. While plot details have been kept under wraps for Spider-Man 4, there have been many rumors and theories as to who will be showing up in the MCU installment.
In a new interview with Melt Down Press, while promoting Daredevil: Born Again, the subject of Spider-Man 4 briefly came up during the conversation. The biggest takeaway from this is that it led to Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio revealing that neither he nor his co-star, Charlie Cox, will be appearing in Spider-Man 4 based on the actor’s current knowledge, as he shared the following:
Melt Down Press: I don’t wanna get you guys in trouble. That’s like asking, you know, if you guys are in Spider-Man 4. I’m not gonna do it.
Vincent D’Onofrio: Well, for you, we’re not. You can ask that because we’re not in Spider-Man 4, or at least nobody has told me that we are. And, but, you know, I’m just saying that to Charlie, Adam only because we’ve had a lot of, we’ve done a lot of interviews and most of them hadn’t really thought that through. But I’m just giving you some praise because that’s why I think you’re awesome.
What Vincent D’Onofrio’s Spider-Man 4 Update Means For Tom Holland’s Sequel
At the time of this story’s publication, it’s unclear if the Spider-Man 4 screenplay is actually completely finished, which could be why D’Onofrio phrased his answer with “or at least nobody has told me that we are.” By the time the Spider-Man 4 script is completely finalized, there is always the chance that Daredevil and Kingpin have been worked into the story. Once their roles have been determined for the Spider-Man 4 story, it would make sense to then have Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures negotiate with the respective Daredevil: Born Again stars.
As such, just because D’Onofrio is stating that they are not in Spider-Man 4, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will stay that way by the time the Phase 6 film starts production. Similarly, things like Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man: No Way Home press tour made it very clear that actors will sometimes need to avoid giving the public spoilers for their roles until they are confirmed. Even if Cox and D’Onofrio were actually in Spider-Man 4, they wouldn’t be able to reveal it to the public anyway until Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have announced it themselves.
Our Take On Vincent D’Onofrio’s Spider-Man 4 Update
Time will tell if D’Onofrio’s Spider-Man 4 update sticks, as it would be a huge deal for the MCU to finally have Peter cross paths with both Daredevil and Kingpin in any capacity, especially in his own solo film. Given how long the three characters have been in the MCU at this point, it’s also potentially more than due time for Spider-Man and Daredevil to properly team up against Kingpin. Hopefully, as Spider-Man 4 gets closer to starting filming, more updates about the Phase 6 movie will begin to emerge, providing a clearer picture of the release.
