Scream 7
set pH๏τos and a video have now emerged online, providing the first look at Ghostface in the sequel. After first being introduced in Wes Craven’s seminal 1996 horror movie, Ghostface has terrorized the residents of Woodsboro and beyond in 5 sequels, with the latest, Scream 6, arriving in 2023. Now, original final girl Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is set to return in the upcoming Scream 7 from director Kevin Williamson, with other returning characters including Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown), and Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding).
Though there’s been no official Scream 7 promotional images or a trailer just yet, YouTube channel CRAVEN Something Scary now shares pH๏τos and a video from the movie’s production in Atlanta, Georgia. The new materials tease that at least parts of the story take place in a town called Pine Grove, Indiana, in the autumn, with the production said to have scattered bags full of leaves to add to the atmosphere. The images reveal the Pine Grove theater, a city hall, a lonely town main street, a city mayor election sign, as well as a restaurant called Dottie’s Diner.
Most interesting, however, is the inclusion of a brief video of Ghostface, who is seen walking calmly past a café at night. The YouTube channel notes that Ghostface is walking after another character who is running in this scene, but they don’t name this character so as not to reveal any spoilers. What The Scream 7 Set Leaks Mean For The Movie
They Fit With One Sidney Prescott Rumor
Pine Grove is not a location that has been featured in a Scream movie before, and it’s unclear if the entire movie will take place in this town or just portions of it. The inclusion of a Pine Grove mayoral election sign for Ron Lynch suggests this could be an important part of the narrative, but it’s not yet known who the Ron Lynch actor is. Though CRAVEN Something Scary doesn’t reveal who Ghostface is chasing in the set video, the inclusion of a café in the background does play into one rumor going around about the movie’s story.
While not official by any means, it has been rumored that Sidney will own a café in Scream 7. If that’s the case, it’s possible that it’s Sidney Ghostface is chasing in this scene, or potentially her daughter, played in the movie by Isabel May. If it’s a family business, it could also be Sidney’s husband, Mark, played by Joel McHale. The set leaks raise more questions than they answer, but they do suggest that, like Scream 6, the next movie will be leaving Woodsboro behind.
Our Take On The Scream 7 Set Video
Pine Grove Could Be A Strong New Setting
A major question about Ghostface in Scream 7 is whether there will be one or multiple. There have been two Ghostface killers on multiple occasions now, and the Scream 6 ending actually revealed there were three in that film. The Ghostface shown in the video could be working alone, but it’s entirely possible Sidney and her family will be facing off against more than one killer, which always adds a fun wrinkle.
Though Scream 6‘s New York City setting made for a fun change of pace for the franchise, small-town Indiana could make for a more intimate and contained story this time around. Plus, a small-town setting where everybody knows everybody else could lead to some surprising Ghostface reveals. Many questions remain about Scream 7, but Ghostface’s return is shaping up to feature some exciting changes.
