The events of Captain America: Brave New World could be devastating for an MCU hero introduced in Phase 4. Of all the Phase 5 installments released so far, Captain America: Brave New World may be the one that may have the biggest non-multiversal implications on the MCU’s Earth. The discovery of adamantium, an international war near-miss, Captain America’s decision to reᴀssemble the Avengers, and President Ross’ desтιтution after transforming into Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World‘s ending are all events that will probably start significant chain reactions across the world.
Captain America: Brave New World draws from Hulk’s Marvel lore to set up its two main antagonists. Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns a.k.a. The Leader, Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross a.k.a. Red Hulk, and Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross all return after their introduction in The Incredible Hulk, yet Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner a.k.a. Smart Hulk doesn’t appear in Captain America: Brave New World. Smart Hulk was last seen in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law introducing his son Skaar to his cousin Jennifer Walters and her one-night stand, Matt Murdock.
President Ross’ Brave New World Rampage May Have Negative Implications For She-Hulk
Jennifer Walters’ Public Perception Could Change After President Ross’ Red Hulk Rampage
Jennifer Walters struggles with her public image in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, where she finally stands out after years of feeling like a wallflower, only to have the media and a group of online harᴀssers damage her reputation. After Jen is portrayed as an out-of-control Hulk, is sent to Damage Control’s Supermax prison, and witnesses Abomination ruin his chances of freedom, Jennifer Walters breaks the fourth wall and convinces Marvel Studios to fix her story in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law‘s ending. Now, President Ross’ Red Hulk rampage could undo She-Hulk’s efforts to remain a respected lawyer.
The Leader drives President Ross to Hulk out at the White House during a press conference, causing a controversy that ends up removing him from office and sending him to the Raft. Given that the US president himself destroys the White House as Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, She-Hulk will likely be targeted by the media and her colleagues, who may put her capacity for self-control into question again. It took Bruce Banner a lot of effort to turn Hulk’s infamy around, and President Ross’ Red Hulk transformation may take public perception of Gamma mutates back a great deal.
Red Hulk’s Brave New World Aftermath Could Prove She-Hulk Isn’t Invincible
Jennifer Walters Likely Won’t Be Able To Change Her Story This Time
Jennifer Walters doesn’t confront the media and the Intelligencia’s wrongful accusations head-on in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law‘s finale. Instead, she reaches out to Marvel Studios to negotiate a better ending for her show. She-Hulk’s fourth-wall break suggests she could solve any movie or show she will appear in using the same technique, but this would remove all stakes from her MCU appearances, including Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. Aside from the fact that KEVIN probably won’t do her the same favor twice, She-Hulk may realize that she can’t affect other characters’ stories, and that the aftermath of Red Hulk’s rampage is irreversible.
