The beloved character Paddington Bear has now returned in the new movie Paddington in Peru, to the delight of audiences. This project sees Paddington (Ben Whishaw) make his way to Peru with the Brown family to look for Aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton), who has become lost in the Peruvian Amazon. Paddington in Peru‘s cast features many familiar faces returning, along with the addition of some exciting new characters. As with previous installments, Paddington in Peru has the тιтle character get into some sticky, yet lighthearted situations, though his family always sees him through.
Following its release in the UK in November 2024, Paddington in Peru received a phenomenal Rotten Tomatoes score of 93%. While this rating is the lowest of the series so far, its well-above-average reception proves just how great the entire series is. Likewise, Paddington in Peru has received positive reviews that reflect the charming nature of the characters and how fun Paddington’s Peruvian adventure is for audiences of all ages, including younger audiences of a similar age to Paddington Bear himself.

Even before Paddington moved to London, Paddington in Peru details a bit more about the time that he spent in Peru with Aunt Lucy. While it is known that Paddington’s parents died when he was very young and his aunt encouraged him to make the long journey to London, the exact amount of time that this would have taken is not specified. Thus, it is possible that Paddington is actually even older than 10 in Paddington in Peru, but this is slightly complicated by how young he looks.

However, this age does not line up with the amount of time that has pᴀssed between the movies. This is also thrown into question given the difference in size between some of the older bears that Paddington meets in El Dorado.
Overall, it seems most likely that the creators of Paddington would continue to give him a cute look rather than making him actually grow throughout the series, keeping him familiar to audiences. Paddington being 10 years old makes sense given the number of adventures that he has managed to go on thus far. Especially given that Paddington’s age is never explicitly stated, it does not have that much of an impact on the plot. Ultimately, it is simply adorable to see Paddington interact with bears of different ages in Paddington in Peru, and his youth means more stories can be told in the future.
