Hayley Atwell

The Famed British-American Actor Appears As Henry’s New Boss

Diane (Hayley Atwell) looks up with tears in her eyes in Heartstopper

British-American actor Hayley Atwell made a notable cameo in Paddington in Peru as Madison, Henry’s new American boss. Atwell turns heads with her role as the daring Madison, who gets coffee delivered to her from a paraglider in her highrise conference room in her very first scene. Such a persona harkens back to Atwell’s reputation as an action movie star, having had roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Though Atwell has roughly a minute of screen time in Paddington in Peru, her character has a huge impact on Henry in the film. Madison encourages him to step out of his comfort zone and to take risks to succeed. Her words inspire Henry to go with Paddington and their family to Peru, helping set the story and Henry’s character arc in motion. She is later seen viewing Henry’s presentation about his trip to Peru, showing how he has embraced the risks throughout his globe-trotting adventure.

Simon Farnaby

A Recurring Paddington Character Makes His Third Film Appearance

Simon Farnaby is famous for his work co-writing popular films like Wonka and Paddington 2, the latter of which earned him two BAFTA nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best British Film. He also made appearances in the first two Paddington films as Barry the Flight Attendant. Though Farnaby did not write Paddington in Peru, he served as an executive director while appearing on-screen in a small role.

Specifically, when Paddington and his family are on a plane en route to Peru, Farnaby reprises his role as Barry, who gives a demonstration of the plane’s life vest. This bit leads to Paddington activating his vest in one of his many moments of physical comedy. While it was a small cameo by Farnaby, his recurring appearance in the franchise has cemented his place as a major part of the Paddington movies.

Queen Elizabeth II

The Late Queen Of England Appears Alongside Paddington

paddington and queen elizabeth II

Despite her pᴀssing in 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth II appeared in Paddington in Peru in a posthumous cameo alongside the film’s тιтular bear. The Queen is seen in a pH๏τograph taken from the short film she starred in with Paddington for the Platinum Jubilee in February 2022, just seven months before her pᴀssing. The short depicted Paddington and the Queen sharing a meal at Buckingham Palace on the day of the Jubilee, with the former thanking her “for everything” in a humorous but heartfelt video.

The fact that Paddington has a pH๏τo from this film seems to imply that the short is canon in the Paddington cinematic universe.

The fact that Paddington has a pH๏τo from this film seems to imply that the short is canon in the Paddington cinematic universe. Since Queen Elizabeth II is one of the most famed figures in modern Britain, it was inevitable that she got to share the screen with another British icon.

Michael Bond

Paddington’s Creator Gets Another Big Screen Appearance

Michael Bond in a picture in Paddington in Peru

Michael Bond is famous for creating Paddington Bear and the line of children’s books centered around the character. Since Bond spawned such an iconic franchise that led to a trilogy of successful movies, it’s no surprise that Paddington in Peru gave a shoutout to the one who started it all. Though Bond died on June 27, 2017, the same day that Paddington 2 finished principal pH๏τography, the beloved author made a posthumous appearance in the film.

Specifically, Bond appears in Paddington in Peru on a stamp on the letter that the protagonist receives at the beginning of the film. While Bond didn’t exactly appear in the third movie, this little cameo marks the author’s second appearance in the Paddington film franchise, having first appeared in the first Paddington movie in 2014 as the Kindly Gentleman.

Hugh Grant

Hugh Grant’s Iconic Villain Has Returned To The Paddington Franchise

Actor Hugh Grant returned to the Paddington franchise as Phoenix Buchanan, the iconic villain of Paddington 2 whose antique store robbery was pinned on Paddington, putting the latter in prison. In the mid-credits scene of Paddington in Peru, Paddington and the El Dorado bears visit Phoenix in prison in an homage to the scene in Paddington 2 in which the Brown family visits Paddington in jail.

Paddington in Peru has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Believing he will soon be released from his incarceration, he pitches a theatrical production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears to Paddington and his friends in hopes of receiving funding thanks to his gold from El Dorado. However, Buchanan is disheartened to learn that the gold was actually oranges. It’s unclear if Grant’s cameo and his alleged prison release signify an appearance in the next Paddington film, but it ends Paddington in Peru on a humorous note.
