Fan-Favorite DCEU Star Joins Brandon Sklenar’s Batman As Nightwing In Epic DC Universe Art

Brandon Sklenar’s Batman fan-casting comes to life in The Brave and The Bold while finding the new Nightwing for the DC Universe through new art. While the DCU timeline has just recently launched, one of the most highly anticipated projects coming up is The Brave and The Bold, which will bring Bruce Wayne and the Bat-Family into James Gunn’s franchise. Given that the Batman Family are some of the biggest players in the DC canon, fans are actively proposing who should be tapped for some of those characters.

One of the top choices for Batman in Gunn’s DCU is Sklenar, who would fit the seeming age range for the hero in The Brave and The Bold, which will explore Bruce learning about the existence of his biological son, Damian Wayne, while also following other members of the Bat-Family. To show what one of the dynamics could look like, John Regan recently shared new The Brave and The Bold artwork, featuring Sklenar as the Dark Knight, along with Asher Angel as Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing. Check it out below:

Angel is no stranger to the superhero genre, as he played Billy Batson in Shazam! and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, while Zachary Levi played the adult version of the character. Interest in seeing Angel as Nightwing in the DCU began in May 2024, when the actor shared a post on X with a Nightwing GIF from Young Justice with no context, with fans speculating that maybe he was teasing something related to the character.

What The Batman & Nightwing DCU Art Means For The Brave & The Bold

As more The Brave and The Bold movie fan art is emerging, it is clear that the Batman characters are some of the players that audiences are most excited to see in the DCU. Now that Sklenar is also game to play Batman in the DCU, it is no shock that more artwork of him as the Dark Knight continues to come to life. Whether or not DC Studios has Sklenar on their radar for The Brave and The Bold remains to be seen, as the casting process for Batman has yet to begin.

The fact that Angel is also getting a similar traction as Sklenar as Batman in the fan-casting department shows that many are getting behind the idea of Asher Angel as Dick Grayson in the DCU, especially after his time in the DCEU. While he may have had to share the тιтular role in the Shazam! franchise, giving him a sH๏τ at a big role like Nightwing in The Brave and The Bold would allow him to shine again in the comic book film genre. Now that Angel is also grown-up, he is also at the right age to play an iconic superhero like Nightwing.

Our Take On The Batman & Nightwing DCU Art

Comic book panel: Batman and Nightwing fly into white space.

As great as Sklenar and Angel look as Batman and Nightwing in The Brave and The Bold art, time will tell if either of those actors end up getting cast as Bruce and Dick in the DCU. It will all depend on the direction of the characters, which will determine the final casting decisions. But hopefully, more updates about The Brave and The Bold will emerge sooner rather than later.
