45 Years After A New Hope, The Book Of Boba Fett Made One Much-Loved Star Wars Deleted Scene Canon

45 years after the original Star Wars, since reтιтled to A New Hope, its story was a core aspect in The Book of Boba Fett – particularly through the official canonization of a previously deleted scene. Despite the mixed reviews it received, The Book of Boba Fett accomplished a lot for Star Wars canon, especially for the original trilogy. It not only showed how Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc pit, paying homage to a hilarious scene from the sitcom Parks & Rec in the process, but it also dove deeper into the lore of Tatooine itself.

From canonizing the ancient history of Tatooine to sharing more about its various tribes and communities, The Book of Boba Fett functions essentially as a love letter to the original Star Wars trilogy (and The Mandalorian). This is further proven by the way it takes an iconic deleted scene from A New Hope and makes it official Star Wars canon. This original scene brings viewers of A New Hope to the famed Tosche Station, where we meet some of Luke Skywalker’s childhood friends, Camie and Fixer. While this scene didn’t make the final cut, Star Wars still revisited it.

And They Were Still At Tosche Station!

Camie and Fixer appear in The Book of Boba Fett.

In The Book of Boba Fett episode 2 “Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine”, Boba Fett ventures out to Tosche Station in search of a Nikto speederbike gang, hoping to use their bikes to help his own Tusken tribe take down the Pyke Syndicate’s train. Boba arrives just in time to save a couple who had been tied up in a fight with the gang that had taken over the station. This couple, played by Mandy Kowalski and Skyler Bible, is credited as none other than Camie and Fixer, Luke’s two friends from A New Hope‘s aforementioned deleted scene.

It Looks Like Camie & Fixer Are Officially Star Wars Canon

Will Their Other Friend Get A Similar Type Of Justice?

This was the perfect subtle way to bring such a beloved deleted scene into the official Star Wars canon, and The Book of Boba Fett did it perfectly. Better yet, it gave them – particularly Fixer – an even better and braver legacy by having him stand up to the speederbike gang, despite the danger it posed for him to do so. In doing so, The Book of Boba Fett was able to pay tribute to that which came before in a balanced way, not overdoing it while also still honoring these characters and this 45-year-old scene.

If this was possible for Camie and Fixer after 45 years, then perhaps there’s still hope for another beloved character from A New Hope: Biggs Darklighter. While the character did make the final cut of A New Hope, there was more planned for his character in the deleted scenes, and many viewers have been waiting for a long time to see his character regain that proper justice. If The Book of Boba Fett accomplished this with Camie and Fixer 45 years after A New Hope, then not all hope is lost for Biggs, either.
