An alleged Captain America: Brave New World plot leak suggests the only part of the MCU movie that got cut in the four months leading up to its release involved a new Hulk. Like several other MCU projects, Captain America: Brave New World went through delays and reshoots that changed a few portions of its story. However, Captain America: Brave New World‘s budget didn’t reach the same heights of box office disappointments such as The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The MCU’s fourth Captain America installment also delivers a cohesive story despite its many moving parts.
Captain America: Brave New World connects Captain America’s story to the events of The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s political aftermath, and Eternals‘ Emergence. Oddly enough, Bruce Banner a.k.a. Hulk doesn’t appear in Captain America: Brave New World even though three of The Incredible Hulk‘s characters returned — Samuel Sterns, Thaddeus Ross, and Betty Ross. In-universe, Bruce Banner knows little about Captain America’s missions for the government and their relation to two of his enemies. From a narrative standpoint, Hulk’s in Captain America: Brave New World would have stolen the attention from its тιтular hero.
Captain America: Brave New World’s Plot Leaked In Full 4 Months Ago
An Alleged Leak Correctly Predicted Most Of Captain America: Brave New World’s Details
Four and a half months before the movie’s release, Reddit user r/LouisDCVN shared an alleged leak of Captain America: Brave New World‘s full plot. The post lists every major sequence of the movie beat for beat, with details as specific as the church setting of Captain America and Sidewinder’s first encounter, the Leader’s overhauled physical appearance, Isaiah Bradley’s “I will not be locked up in a box again!” line, and the way Captain America defeats Red Hulk (by stabbing him with a kinetically charged wing). Captain America: Brave New World‘s post-credits scene and its possible nod to Avengers: Doomsday are also mentioned.
Just from the trailers, it would have been easy to deduce that Tim Blake Nelson was playing a Gamma-mutated version of Samuel Sterns a.k.a. the Leader, who would somehow cause Thaddeus Ross to transform into Red Hulk towards the end of Captain America: Brave New World. It would also have been easy to deduce the international tension over the Celestial corpse lying in the Indian Ocean, as well as the fact that Giancarlo Esposito’s Seth Voelker a.k.a. Sidewinder doesn’t play a big role. But guessing every event of the movie in the correct order seems much less likely.
Amadeus Cho Was The Only Part Of The Leak That Didn’t Come Off
Captain America: Brave New World May Have Planned To Introduce A Brand New Hulk
The alleged Captain America: Brave New World plot leak accurately summarized the movie with impressive detail, except for the addition of one character who doesn’t appear at any point in the film. The Reddit post states that Ruth Bat-Seraph teams up with Captain America and Falcon in search of more information about the Leader, which leads them to “Stark Technologies” (Stark Industries), where they discuss the situation with the company’s smartest engineer, Amadeus Cho. The post also suggests that Sam Wilson would have mentioned “giving hulk juice to Amadeus Cho” in Captain America: Brave New World‘s post-credits scene.
In the comics, Amadeus Cho closely follows Hulk’s whereabouts and helps other heroes using his intellect. After the events of 2015’s Secret Wars, Cho absorbs the original Hulk’s Gamma radiation and becomes the Totally Awesome Hulk — a Gamma monster smarter and almost as strong as Bruce Banner’s original Savage Hulk. Amadeus Cho harneses his power to fight crime and joins teams such as the Protectors and the Agents of Atlas. The MCU began to set up Amadeus Cho’s introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Amadeus’ mom, Helen Cho, provided the regeneration cradle that helped Ultron and the Avengers create Vision.
Amadeus Cho Could Have Set Up A Young Avengers Hulk
Amadeus Cho’s Phase 5 Introduction Would Add Another Possible Member To The MCU’s Young Avengers
Although Amadeus Cho is already an experienced scientist and a seasoned human hero by the time he becomes the Totally Awesome Hulk, he’s still a young character — young enough to qualify for Ms. Marvel’s team of young superheroes “Champions”, which includes Kamala Khan, Miles Morales, Viv Vision, a child version of Cyclops, and Sam Alexander a.k.a. Nova. Curiously, the Champions have also welcomed a young Joaquin Torres a.k.a. Falcon and Elijah Bradley a.k.a. Patriot. The former is officially Captain America’s sidekick in Captain America: Brave New World and the latter appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Characters such as Miles Morales, Nova, and Amadeus Cho could be part of the Young Avengers in the MCU
So far, the MCU has laid the foundations for the Young Avengers with members such as Kate Bishop, Billy and Tommy Maximoff, Kid Loki, America Chavez, and Cᴀssie Lang. The Marvels‘ ending directly teases the Young Avengers’ creation with Ms. Marvel recruiting Kate Bishop, which suggests that other young MCU heroes will be part of the team as well. Ms. Marvel and Ironheart, for example, as notable members of the Champions, but the MCU will likely synthesize all young hero teams into one. Characters such as Miles Morales, Nova, and Amadeus Cho could be part of the Young Avengers in the MCU.
Marvel Also Cut 2 Other Characters From Captain America: Brave New World
Captain America: Brave New World Cut Characters Who Could Have Been Important To The Plot
Late into Captain America: Brave New World‘s production, it was revealed that WWE star Seth Rollins and Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar were cast as Serpent Society mercenaries. Shortly after, Seth Rollins and Rosa Salazar’s MCU characters were dropped from Captain America: Brave New World during reshoots. Considering both stars’ fame and the Serpent Society’s usually large line-up, it’s clear that the villain group was originally supposed to play a bigger role in Captain America: Brave New World. However, Seth Voelker’s promise to break out of prison sooner rather than later suggests that he and the Serpent Society will return in a future MCU project.
If the Captain America: Brave New World‘s alleged plot leak is accurate, then Amadeus Cho may have also been cut from the movie late in production. The Reddit post describes Amadeus Cho’s actor as “not good at all” performance-wise — though it doesn’t mention any specific name — and adds that Sam Wilson would have mentioned Pepper Potts in that scene. If this scene really existed, it may have been a wise decision to drop it from the final cut, as Captain America: Brave New World is already jam-packed with characters and plotlines, and an extra Hulk character would only make Bruce Banner’s absence more glaring.
