If The Gorge 2 Happens, It Must Focus On This Wild Story Reveal Involving Dark Lake’s Biggest Secret

Even though Levi and Drasa successfully destroy the gorge at the end of The Gorge, one reveal from the film could set up a potential sequel. The Gorge is a movie that successfully blends a lot of genres. It starts out as an action thriller, before surprisingly turning into a romance movie. However, The Gorge eventually leans more into the horror and science fiction genres. Not long after Levi gets recruited by Dark Lake and begins his year-long post in the west tower and Drasa starts in the east tower, things take a turn for the worse.

Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy star in The Gorge, and have clear chemistry with one another. Therefore, even though it’s risky, it’s great to see Levi zip-line across the gorge to finally meet Drasa. On his way back to his tower, the zip-line breaks, sending Levi into the gorge. Without hesitation, Drasa also goes down into the gorge to rescue him. The Hollow Men and the other dangers introduced in the second half of the film lead to an action-packed ending to The Gorge. One reveal from the movie, in particular, could be expanded upon in a sequel to The Gorge.

The Gorge 2 Should Focus On Dark Lake’s Super Soldiers

Dark Lake Wants To Create Super Soldiers In The Gorge

While Levi initially believes the gorge is under the supervision of the military, a twist halfway through The Gorge reveals that an organization called Dark Lake has actually hidden the unknown location from the rest of the world. Bartholomew, the woman who hires Levi, is actually the head of Dark Lake, and is ᴅᴇᴀᴅset on making sure the secrets of the gorge never get out. Unbeknownst to Levi and Drasa, they would have actually been killed after their year of monitoring the gorge came to an end.

Within the gorge, Levi and Drasa find a computer that has a lot of information about Dark Lake. This information allows them to eventually set off the “Stray Dog” plan at the end of the film, which destroys the gorge. However, Levi and Drasa also learn that Dark Lake has been using the hybrid DNA from the gorge to create super soldiers. Therefore, even though the gorge is destroyed at the end of the movie, a potential sequel to The Gorge could be focused on these super soldiers.

How The Gorge 2 Could Still Be A Horror Sci-Fi Movie

Levi & Drasa Could Fight Super Soldiers In The Gorge 2

The whole point of hiring two people to stand guard over the gorge was to prevent The Hollow Men and the other creatures from getting out. The substance in the gorge could potentially lead to the end of the world, after all. However, Dark Lake still chooses to transport DNA out of the gorge so that it can be used for the creation of super soldiers. Not much is revealed about whether Dark Lake’s plan to create super soldiers was successful, but if it was, then it would be the perfect set up for a sequel to The Gorge.

Since they survived the gorge, it’s possible that Levi and Drasa could be recruited once again for the sequel, this time to kill the super soldiers.

Perhaps the super soldiers created by Dark Lake are more monster than human, like the Hollow Men that are seen in The Gorge. If this is the case, then The Gorge 2 could be another horror sci-fi movie in which the super soldiers have to be contained. Since they survived the gorge, it’s possible that Levi and Drasa could be recruited once again for the sequel, this time to kill the super soldiers. Even though The Gorge has a pretty definitive ending, there are still plot threads that could be further explored in a sequel.
