The Accountant 2 is the second chapter in director Gavin O’Connor’s proposed trilogy of movies about Ben Affleck’s genius money-laundering accountant on the autism spectrum, Christian Wolff. The Accountant was released in 2016 to instant critical and commercial acclaim and was a certified box-office success for studio Warner Bros. Both Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal gave career-highlight performances as Christian and Braxton Wolff, and the ending left audiences with a demand for more.

The sequel to The Accountant has been on the cards for several years. Gavin O’Connor is returning to direct, with both Affleck and Bernthal back again to lead the cast. After months of build-up and speculation, the latest news arrives in the form of the first trailer for The Accountant 2. The action-packed sequel’s full trailer opens with a bang as it reveals right away that J.K. Simmons’ Ray King has been killed. This brings Christian into the mix as “The Accountant” teams up with Marybeth to get to the bottom of Ray’s murder. Along the way, they bring on Christian’s estranged brother, Braxton, who reluctantly joins the crew and brings his gunslinging skills with him.

Though the movie was rushed into production in March 2024, things went silent until the release date for The Accountant 2 was announced. Coming nearly 10 years after the debut of the original film, the Ben Affleck sequel is currently slated to premiere on April 25, 2025.

Who’s Joining Ben Affleck & Jon Bernthal?

The cast of The Accountant 2 is mostly unknown, but it’s been confirmed that Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal will be reprising their roles from The Accountant. In the 2016 movie, Affleck played the тιтular forensic accountant, Christian Wolff, while Bernthal played his brother, the hitman Braxton. Along with those two, J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as Financial Crimes Enforcement Network Director Ray King, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson will also return as Treasury agent Marybeth Medina.

The cast has also added several other newcomers, though nothing about their roles has been disclosed yet. Daniella Pineda (Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom) will appear, alongside Robert Morgan (Hacksaw Ridge), and Grant Harvey (Animal Kingdom).
