How High 3 would be the next chapter in the stoner comedy series, and fans of the movies may be wondering when they can expect to hear news about the third film, if they can expect to at all. The first How High premiered in 2001 and starred Wu-Tang’s own Clifford “Method Man” Smith and his frequent collaborator Reginald “Redman” Noble as Silas P. Silas and Jamal King, respectively, two cannabis users who accidentally summon the ghost of their deceased friend and use him to get into Harvard where they encounter preppy upper-class life.

It took 18 years before a sequel ever materialized, and How High 2 continued the original’s casting decision of putting two rappers in the lead parts. The 2019 TV movie sees stoner duo Roger Silas (Lil Yachty) and Calvin (D.C. Young Fly) on a mission to find the “Weed Bible” which reveals a way to create a special kind of Marijuana plant. Both films were not mᴀssive critical or box office successes, but they’ve both accrued a significant cult following. At one point, How High 3 seemed like a certainty, but there has not been much news about it recently.

How High 3 Is Not Confirmed

There Has Been No News Since The Initial Announcement In 2021

In May 2021, Method Man and his manager Shauna Garr announced that they would be forming a production company called Six AM (via Variety). The first project they announced was How High 3, which was allegedly sold to Universal 1440 with the caveat that Method Man and Redman would be reprising their roles. While Garr was an executive producer on How High 2, both Method Man and Redman were not involved with the movie, with Redman speaking on The Grᴀss Routes Podcast about the film (via HipHopDX),

“Me and Meth we’re not aware of the transaction of this movie… My thing is, you have the Red and Meth brand that [helped build] and create this … those are all our ideas. When the new deal came about, we weren’t involved in it.”

Despite the announcement in 2021, there has been no news or movement on How High 3 since. The website for Six AM does not have anything under its production tab, and the webpage says, “This page is still in production“.

The Stoner Duos From Each Film Could Return

With How High 3 still unconfirmed, it’s unclear who will be returning for the third film. However, if Six AM is involved with production, then Method Man and Redman will almost certainly be returning as Silas P. Silas and Jamal King. Actors who appeared in both films would also be likely to return, including Mike Epps as Baby Powder, Al Shearer as I Got Money, and T.J. Thyne as Gerald Picklestein. It’s also possible that Lil Yachty as Roger Silas and D.C. Young Fly as Calvin could reprise their roles to make a quartet with Method Man and Redman.

However, How High 3 could also feature new stars if the film somehow slips away from Six AM and Redman. This happened before with How High 2. The two legendary rappers thought they would be involved, but ended up not returning. Redman said,

“As far as me and Meth know, we were waiting on a new script to read for How High 2… Yachty and DC have nothing to do with it. It was just all business. I look at it like this man — when one door closes, another one opens and that just leaves room for [me] and Meth to do a whole new movie.”

It’s possible that Method Man and Redman could be blindsided again, and a new duo would be up for the lead parts, whether the original stars participate in the movie or not.

The Father-Son Duo Of Silas And Roger Could Team Up

There have been no story details about How High 3 yet and with the wild plots of the last two movies, the third could be about almost anything. Considering Silas Silas and Roger Silas appear to be related, How High 3 could be about the father-son duo teaming up, with their respective friends Jamal and Calvin along for the ride, of course. What the quartet get up to would likely be supernatural in scope, considering the mystical plots of the last two films and How High 3 could see the most fantastical storyline yet.
