Captain America: Brave New World’s Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Debuts Higher Than Chris Evans’ First MCU Movie

Despite poor critics’ reviews, Captain America: Brave New World‘s audience score has surpᴀssed Captain America: The First Avenger on Rotten Tomatoes. The MCU’s fourth Captain America installment has received negative criticism for its overstuffed plot, its similarities to previous MCU movies, and the main character’s barebones character arc. Yet, Captain America: Brave New World is tracking to be a moderate box office success, and it lays sturdier foundations for future projects than many Phase 4 and Phase 5 тιтles.

On its release date, Captain America: Brave New World holds a 78% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes — only 3% percentage points above Captain America: The First Avenger‘s 75% audience score. On the other hand, Captain America: The First Avenger‘s Tomatometer stands at 80%, towering above Captain America: Brave New World‘s 51% critics’ score with a “Certified Fresh” label. Captain America: Brave New World‘s Popcornmeter and Tomatometer will continue to fluctuate as its theatrical run progresses.

What Captain America: Brave New World’s Audience RT Score Means

Audiences So Far Disagree Brave New World Has Broken A Captain America Streak

Captain America: Brave New World‘s Tomatometer score is considerably lower than all three previous Captain America movies, which hadn’t dipped below 80%. At 51%, Captain America: Brave New World failed to win over almost half of the critics who gave positive reviews to Chris Evans’ three MCU solo films. All three previous Captain America movies had similar audience reviews, with Captain America: The First Avenger claiming the lowest Popcornmeter score at 75% and Captain America: The Winter Soldier claiming the top spot at 92%, only three percentage points above Captain America: Civil War‘s 89%.

At the time of release, Captain America: Brave New World debuted with the third-lowest RT score in MCU history. At 48%, Captain America: Brave New World‘s debut Tomatometer barely surpᴀssed Eternals‘ 47% and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s 46%. While Captain America: Brave New World‘s critics score has since increased, its audience score will probably keep changing as well, possibly falling below Captain America: The First Avenger‘s 75% treshold and emphasizing the distance between it and the MCU’s Chris Evans-led Captain America trilogy.

Captain America: Brave New World‘s reviews have delineated clear flaws that previous Captain America movies didn’t have, earning the movie lower critics and audience scores than previous installments. However, Captain America: Brave New World‘s audience score suggests that, despite its weaknesses, the film doesn’t fail to meet general audiences’ expectations as much as MCU flops such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Eternals, and Secret Invasion, all of which were criticized for not fulfilling the full potential of their premises and having little impact on the franchise. By Captain America: Brave New World‘s ending, everything the trailers promised is delivered.
