New images from the set of Masters of the Universe have been shared, offering a new glimpse at Nicholas Galitzine’s Prince Adam facing an unlikely enemy when arriving on Earth. The upcoming 2026 movie is helmed by Travis Knight, adapting Mattel’s beloved toy line that depicts the battles between He-Man and Skeletor over the fate of the world of Eternia. Alongside Galitzine, Masters of the Universe also features Camila Mendes, Jared Leto, Allison Brie, Idris Elba, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, and Charlotte Riley.

As filming continues on Masters of the Universe in London, Instagram pop culture update account Deuxmoi has shared pH๏τos of Galitzine as Prince Adam. The star has donned Adam’s bob-like haircut but is dressed in a pink shirt, white teeshirt, and dark blue pants. Despite his casual appearance, Galitzine is seen as part of his Eternian heritage, alongside an incredibly faithful recreation of the Power Sword. Several pH๏τos show the actor being taken into police custody. Despite being filmed in London, Adam has gotten on the wrong side of the Oklahoma Police Department, with the two officer’s badges revealing the setting.

The Movie Breaks Away From Adam’s Typical Origin

While the first glimpse at Adam may leave some audiences confused as to why the fantastical character is dressed in relatively modern clothing, it aligns with previous reports on the plot of Masters of the Universe. Rather than opening on Eternia, Adam was exiled to Earth for unknown reasons at the age of 10, with his rediscovery of the Power Sword twenty years later reconnecting him to his homeworld. As such, when audiences are introduced to Galitzine’s portrayal of Adam, he’ll have spent more time on Earth as a regular human.

Despite this new layer to the story, Adam’s outfit is a callback to his casual Eternian outfit seen throughout the franchise. Not only do the colors align with the design, but the choice of a pink shirt over a white teeshirt evokes his shirt and tunic. As such, the feature is clearly doing its best to pay tribute to what has come before. In addition, Galitzine is also donning Adam’s long-haired bob from the original animation, further highlighting the movie’s attempts to recreate the character’s iconic look.

The Movie Could Use Its Modern Setting To Add A New Layer To Adam’s Tale

While Barbie’s reception exemplified how successful a toyline adaptation can be, the vast number of projects that were greenlit by Mattel have left viewers skeptical of whether Hollywood is taking the right lessons away from it. As such, it is understandable why some may be hesitant about the first glimpse at Adam seeing him in a more modern outfit and setting.

However, as seen with both Barbie and adaptations like Sonic the Hedgehog, having a contemporary Earth element can be more than an easy way to help audiences relate to the story and characters. Both features used its Earth setting to add a layer, either through a deeper look at the world as we know it, or adding a tale of found family. As such, Masters of the Universe may surprise audiences with its modern Earth element.
