Glen Powell Becomes The DC Universe’s Newest Hero In Stunning The Flash Art

Glen Powell becomes the next live-action version of Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, for James Gunn’s DC Universe through new DC artwork. While the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” movies and TV shows are already lining up numerous members of the Justice League, the fastest man alive is currently nowhere to be seen on the slate. Following 2023 that marked the end of Grant Gustin’s The Flash TV show, as well as the results of Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie, many are curious how the Scarlet Speedster will be retooled for the DCU.

While there is no casting taking place for the next live-action version of The Flash, this has not stopped fans from throwing out suggestions of who should take on the DC icon for Gunn’s DCU. Through new artwork by John Regan, Glen Powell has been imagined as The Flash in the DCU timeline, showing what he could look like as Barry Allen. Check it out below:

Powell has previously been asked if the superhero genre would be something he would be interested in taking part in, whether it be the DCU or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the actor has spoken positively about both franchises. While he hasn’t been asked by DC Studios or Marvel Studios, one superhero role that has interested Powell is Batman for DC, which is notable as the Caped Crusader is one of the many heroes who are getting rebooted for the DCU.

What The Glen Powell As The Flash Art Means For The DCU

Even though Gunn has stated that a DCU Flash movie is currently not something that DC Studios is prioritizing right now, it is likely only a matter of time before the franchise starts utilizing the DC speedster as a main player in the franchise. Whether it will be Barry as the main Flash again or perhaps someone like Wally West remains to be seen. However, the fact that fans are already sharing their ideas about who should play the iconic Justice League hero shows that people want to see The Flash on the big screen again.

With Powell’s stardom having only continued to grow over the last couple of years, he would be a welcome addition to the DCU, especially for a character like The Flash. Having Powell as Barry would also allow the DCU to start off with their Flash mythology, which already appears set to be slightly different from the DCEU movie timeline, where Miller’s version was still relatively early into the superhero crusade. Powell’s hypothetical Flash would theoretically be further along into his journey as the speedster, given that the DCU is being established as a franchise where many superheroes are already active.

Seeing how terrific Powell would look as The Flash, it would be worth it for DC Studios to look into the idea in some capacity whenever they do decide to get to their speedster situation in the DCU. Despite the result of 2023’s The Flash movie, DC Studios needs to eventually be willing to give the speedster family a proper chance in the DCU timeline. Hopefully, more news about The Flash’s future in the DCU will become clearer sooner rather than later.
