Captain America: Brave New World‘s first reactions help set up expectations going into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new movie. Sam Wilson flies into theaters for the first time as Captain America this weekend. Following the success of ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine is a hard task for the MCU’s 2025 movies. As the first to be released, all eyes turn to how Captain America: Brave New World‘s story will deal with the expectations set for it. With many Hulk-related characters, Sam’s first big-screen Captain America adventure, and connections to Eternals and the X-Men, the MCU movie has a lot going for it.
On Twitter, the first reactions to Captain America: Brave New World have started to pour in, but despite the praise for the cast of the new MCU movie, it seems like the film will not be a universal hit like ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, but more of a divisive project. The reactions vary greatly, alternating between comparing the Captain America film to beloved superhero movies like The Dark Knight and claiming the new MCU entry is dull and not fun at all. Check out some of the first reactions to Captain America: Brave New World below:

What The Captain America: Brave New World Reactions Mean
The MCU Movie Adds To The Multiverse Saga’s Divisive Reception
The Multiverse Saga has received its fair share of criticism, especially after Phase 3 of the MCU’s Infinity Saga featured the franchise at its best. Projects like Eternals and Secret Invasion, on the movie and TV sides of the MCU, failed to connect with audiences. Based on Captain America: Brave New World‘s first reactions, it does not seem like the film will face as much of a negative reception as those projects. However, the new Captain America movie is also unlikely to live up to some of the MCU’s best movies, like Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The action sequences and the movie’s main characters have been praised in pretty much every reaction. However, those who have seen the first MCU film of the year also highlight that it feels like something is missing and that Captain America: Brave New World can feel dull. One of the key problems with the film seems to be its villain. The Leader was barely featured in the trailers for the MCU movie, with more focus on Red Hulk. All in all, the reactions point to a serviceable MCU movie that does not rise to the top of the franchise.
Our Take On The Captain America: Brave New World Reactions
The Captain America Franchise’s Ranking Will Likely Remain The Same
Based on the mixed reactions to Captain America: Brave New World, I don’t think the film will be able to outclass Chris Evans’ last two Captain America movies, and perhaps even The First Avenger. Anthony Mackie’s Marvel hero is now the face of what many consider to be the MCU’s best franchise/trilogy. As such, if Captain America: Brave New World is truly as dull as some of the reactions make it sound, I think it will not be able to live up to what came before from the franchise in the MCU, which I hope I’m wrong about.
