Heartwarming tale of puppies rescuing abandoned infant in the field

An infant, left behind in the Chhattisgarh region of India, found unexpected warmth and protection when discovered by a dog who, along with her puppies, provided comfort until help arrived. The newborn, now named Akanksha, was left alone in the cold field with her umbilical cord still attached and without clothing.

Reportedly, the baby was found by a stray dog in the Indian province of Chhattisgarh, who spent the night snuggled up with her and her litter of puppies. The warmth from the dogs and their mother likely played a crucial role in the baby’s survival. With typical nighttime temperatures dropping and December already setting in, locals commented on the baby’s stroke of luck.

Neighbors, upon hearing the baby’s cries, discovered her nestled among the puppies and immediately alerted the local government unit, known as the panchayat, which then contacted the police.

After being examined by doctors at a nearby hospital, the baby was transferred to the ChildLine project. Premnath, a local resident, described it as “miraculous” that the baby survived the night, considering the potential threat posed by aggressive stray dogs.

In the aftermath, a local official named Munnalal Patel revealed that they stumbled upon the infant during their regular duties.

He stated, “Around eleven in the morning, we stumbled upon a newborn baby girl crying and sleeping near two puppies in our village. We immediately alerted the health department before the infant was taken to the hospital for further examination.”
