Mᴀssive Avengers: Doomsday Theory Gives Avengers 5 Its Own Infinity War Ending But with A Huge Twist

A dark theory shows how Avengers: Doomsday could start with a shocking twist in the vein of Avengers: Infinity War. The Marvel Cinematic Universe thrived during Phase 3. The franchise was firing on all cylinders, with Josh Brolin’s Thanos arriving and being the main threat of two Avengers films, making them easily two of the best entries in the MCU. While the Multiverse Saga has had its ups and downs, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will debut next year and follow a similar path to Thanos, being the villain of the next two Avengers movies.

Avengers: Doomsday story details are being kept under wraps by Marvel Studios. However, that could soon change, as The Wrap reported that the MCU’s next Avengers movie will start filming in March, just a month from now. Marvel’s Avengers movies have all been box office hits, with only Avengers: Age of Ultron facing some form of criticism. Still, all of them did great things for the franchise, and Avengers: Doomsday could learn some lessons from them. A new MCU theory does just that, explaining how Avengers: Doomsday could feature a similar twist to Infinity War to prop up Doctor Doom.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Did Not Win For The First Time

If there is one thing Avengers: Doomsday could learn from Infinity War, it is how to make a surprising twist that sends shockwaves through the franchise. Up until the film, the MCU as a whole and the Avengers franchise had been about heroes finding ways to defeat the villain and save the day. It seemed like Avengers: Infinity War was headed that way, as Thanos almost had the Infinity Gauntlet taken from him on тιтan, and the Scarlet Witch killed Vision in Wakanda. However, the Mad тιтan got the upper hand and snapped, dusting away half of the universe’s population.

The Avengers finally lost, and they did so in the worst possible way. MCU fans had to watch as some of the franchise’s fan-favorite heroes died right in front of them, with Spider-Man’s slower death being particularly sad. That impactful ending fundamentally changed the franchise and easily became the most shocking and chilling ending in superhero movies. Repeating what Infinity War‘s ending did would be hard, as there was a lot of excitement and buildup leading into it. However, Avengers: Doomsday can have an similarly disturbing moment, with the twist that it starts the movie, not ends it.

The MCU Needs To Make Doctor Doom A Threat In Little Time

The Multiverse Saga Pivoted To A New Main Villain

Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom being the main villain of the next two Avengers movies was a last-minute decision. The MCU had been laying the ground for Kang the Conqueror and his multiverse variants from the Council of Kangs to play key roles in the films. However, with Kang actor Jonathan Majors being fired by Marvel, everything changed. Now, the MCU has very little time to introduce Doctor Doom and make him a threat worthy of all the franchise’s heroes teaming up to stop. Officially, RDJ’s Doctor Doom will debut next year in Avengers: Doomsday.

Instead of having multiple movies of buildup like Thanos had, the Multiverse Saga’s new main villain will debut in the same film that he takes on the Avengers. That is a lot. In order to establish Doctor Doom’s threat, Marvel will need to hit the ground running, likely going for an impactful opening that is akin to how Thanos destroyed the Asgardian ship, killed Loki, defeated Thor, and pummeled the Hulk into submission. That is where a new Avengers: Doomsday theory comes in, as it imagines the perfect chilling start to the film with an Infinity War-like twist.

Avengers: Doomsday Theory: Doctor Doom Kills The Avengers To Start The Movie

The MCU’s Next Avengers Film Would Shock Audiences From The Start

The trailers for the MCU’s 2025 movies have given hints about the Avengers’ situation. In Captain America: Brave New World, President Thaddeus Ross asks Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, to restart the Avengers. However, Marvel’s new Thunderbolts* trailer revealed that the team ᴀssembles to handle a major threat in New York that the Avengers will not come to stop, revealing that the MCU’s new Avengers team will really only get together in Avengers: Doomsday, not being teased in one of the film’s before it like some believed. The new Avengers could be used to set up Doctor Doom’s threat.

A mᴀssive Avengers: Doomsday theory shared on Twitter by @MyTimeToShineH shows how the Marvel movie could start with the death of the MCU’s new Avengers, but with a twist. According to the theory, Avengers: Doomsday could have an impactful beginning that sets up Doctor Doom as a major villain by showing the audience decoy protagonists. It would play with fans’ expectations. Heroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, and more hear about Doctor Doom and how he is coming to their Earth. The Avengers reᴀssemble with a new team roster and take on the villain; however, Doom kills them all.

The villain would then have his Doombots throw away the heroes’ bodies in a large container, showing that he has killed countless multiverse variants of the Avengers. Doom would then continue on his path of multiverse domination, choosing Earth-616 as his next target. This would easily set up the villain as a frightening character, and fans would be afraid for their favorite heroes as the movie would then shift to the Avengers slowly coming together and finding out that Doom is coming for their universe. The theory also connects with Doctor Doom’s story in Marvel Comics.

How The Avengers: Doomsday Theory Aligns With Doctor Doom’s Marvel Comics Story

The MCU’s New Main Villain Could Keep His Mission But Switch Targets

Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars will be closely connected, which is probably why Marvel Studios went back to Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame directors, the Russo brothers, to helm the movies. Based on Doctor Doom’s story in the Secret Wars event from Marvel Comics that inspires the upcoming MCU movie, there is a clear connection that can be made to the new Avengers: Doomsday theory. In the comics, Doom goes around killing the Molecule Man of every universe. Since the character does not exist in the MCU, Marvel could switch him up for the Avengers.

Killing several versions of the Avengers would definitely have a bigger impact than killing Kang variants fans do not even expect to appear again.

The Avengers: Doomsday theory also replaces another popular idea about how Doctor Doom could be set up as a major threat at the start of the next Avengers movie. Instead of killing the Council of Kangs to make Doom a threat and connect him to the Multiverse Saga’s previous Big Bad, Marvel would be doing something completely new with the character and more dramatic, as killing several versions of the Avengers would definitely have a bigger impact than killing Kang variants fans do not even expect to appear again. With a strong opening, Avengers: Doomsday could thrive.
