2025 Showed Another Version Of The MCU’s Captain America Civil War Battle Scene
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man follows a version of Peter Parker who lives in a different universe. There are similarities in his world to the main MCU, but the series has also taken some creative liberties. The show previously recreated Peter’s MCU introduction, only this time replacing Tony Stark with Norman Osborn as the genius mentor who approaches him. Captain America: Civil War is referenced once again in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 4 as Steve and Tony’s airport fight is reported on the news.
In the universe of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the Sokovia Accords also exist as a way for enhanced individuals to be held accountable. All superheroes need to be registered with the government, which is something Norman tells Peter that he will handle for him. Of course, this situation with the Sokovia Accords differs from the MCU’s events. Spider-Man clearly wasn’t at the airport battle in the show’s universe, and this version of Peter doesn’t have any ties to Iron Man at all.
How Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s Civil War Battle Changes The Way The MCU Movie Version Looks
The version of Spider-Man in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man didn’t take part in the airport battle, yet Captain America still escaped and Iron Man’s team failed to apprehend Steve Rogers or Bucky Barnes. Peter’s absence suggests that Iron Man didn’t really need to recruit a child to his team. Peter’s involvement in the MCU’s battle was an important moment because it was the character’s official debut and the studio wanted to set up his mentor relationship with Tony. However, his necessity in the fight does come into question with this new revelation.
Tony was intrigued by Peter because he was such an intelligent young mind, but one really does have to wonder how smart his decision was. Bringing a teenage superhero who lacked experience to such an important fight with heavy hitters was a risky choice, and Tony knew he was responsible for Peter’s well-being if anything went wrong. Luckily, Tony cut him off from the battle when he was pushing his limits, but seeing how the Avengers in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man managed without Spider-Man, it just makes Tony’s Captain America: Civil War decision feel even worse.
