Fast 11’s Ideal Ending For Dom & Letty Was Just Done By Vin Diesel’s Super Bowl Commercial

A commercial during Super Bowl LIX by ice cream company Häagen-Dasz surprisingly featured Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto and Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty in a vision of the ideal ending that they’ve always deserved for Fast X: Part 2. The Fast & Furious franchise will enter its 24th year of existence with the release of Fast X: Part 2 in April 2025, and the roster of movie stars that have pᴀssed in and out of the central narrative is a who’s who of Hollywood A-listers. However, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez have been mainstays of the franchise since the original movie.

As noted by Dom’s sister Mia in The Fast and the Furious, Dom and Letty have been together since they were teenagers, and in the years since, their relationship has been full of both joy and tragedy. Unfortunately, they experienced the ultimate tragedy when Letty was presumed killed in Fast & Furious, and due to trauma-related amnesia, it was a long road back for their relationship. With the franchise appearing to be nearing its end, Dom and Letty’s relationship will reach a final resolution, and Häagen-Dasz’s Super Bowl commercial showed what a happy ending might look like.

The commercial featured Dom and Letty driving down the coast with the top down, initially appearing to be on the run from a pursuing enemy. However, they are soon revealed to be enjoying a pair of Häagen-Dasz ice cream bars as they drive with smiles on their faces, while Smokey Robinson’s silky pop single “Cruisin'” plays over the scene. After a few moments, Ludacris’ Tej Parker frantically drives up next to them and asks “What happened to fast life?” to which Dom replies, “Not today.

It comes across as somewhat silly and played for a laugh, given the levity of an ice cream commercial against the typical life-or-death stakes that the three characters usually find themselves in. However, it could be a legitimate glimpse at what a happy ending for Dom and Letty looks like. The two were introduced in the franchise living a simple life in a modest home (albeit as criminals), and it’s clear that all they need is each other and a fast car, and perhaps some ice cream to enjoy.

Dom & Letty Deserve A Happy Ending With Fast 11

They’ve Been Through So Much Turmoil Across 11 Movies

It’s just a :30 commercial, but it provides a glimpse at the ending that Dom and Letty have always deserved. Over the course of the Fast and Furious franchise, Dom and Letty have been tragically torn apart, put back together, and threatened at every turn. One of the most inspiring and heartwarming elements of the entire franchise is Dom’s determination to bring Letty back when she loses her memory, and that kind of love deserves to be cosmically rewarded.

While they began the series as ground-level thieves, they both have evolved into heroes trying to save the world from potentially global threats. They deserve to finally be able to rest and enjoy their life together without the threat of danger, and a coastline drive in the sunshine with some ice cream is a great way to go about it. It seems unlikely that Fast X: Part 2 will end on something quite so saccharine, so it’s nice to see that happy ending played out, even if it’s just in an ice cream commercial at the Super Bowl.
