A closer look at F1 has arrived. The Brad Pitt driving movie stars the two-time Oscar winner as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who was sidelined in the 1990s because of an injury and who is brought out of retirement to coach a young H๏τsH๏τ driver. The movie, which was directed by Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay by his Top Gun: Maverick collaborator Ehren Kruger, also stars Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem, and Shea Whigham.
Warner Bros. Pictures has now unveiled a new official teaser trailer for F1. The nearly wordless 30-second clip features Brad Pitt behind the wheel of a car in a high-stakes race, interspersing that footage with clips from other scenes that take place off the racetrack. The human drama showcased in these scenes includes a steamy kiss, a fight, and a fire. As the intensity of the teaser builds, the commentator’s voice starts to break through, teasing the overall high-octane nature of the movie. Check out the trailer below:
What This Means For F1
The Brad Pitt Movie Will Bring The Drama
The new F1 trailer offers a deeper insight into both sides of the movie. This includes highlighting one of the movie’s core selling points, which is that it won’t keep Sonny Hayes from the racetrack entirely, as he will clearly be involved in at least one make-it-or-break-it moment behind the wheel of a car. However, this teaser showcases the fact that the movie will be just as high-octane and intense when he is not racing.
F1 is being made in collaboration with Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, the governing body behind Formula One.
If anything, the dramatic interpersonal moments teased by the trailer seem to have even higher stakes than the race itself. It seems that tensions will run high over the course of the movie. As Sonny’s romantic life begins to heat up alongside his professional life, managing the personalities surrounding him looks like it will become more and more difficult, to the point that it poses a potential danger to life and limb.
Our Take On The F1 Trailer
It Could Be The New Top Gun: Maverick
Even though the F1 teaser only offered a brief glimpse into the goings-on of the anticipated 2025 movie, it promises that the movie will have a similar tone to Top Gun: Maverick. While it is not a legacy sequel to a previous movie like Maverick, it hinges on the legacy of Formula One itself, in addition to following a character who has seemingly aged out of what they do getting back in the saddle. From the look of the trailer, it seems like the racing movie could connect with audiences on the same level as the smash Tom Cruise hit.
