The Fantastic Four Greet The MCU With A Recreation Of A Classic Marvel Comic Panel In Fantastic Four: First Steps Concept Poster

New MCU art has imagined Marvel’s First Family coming to life following the release of the first teaser trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. First Steps is one of Marvel’s most highly-anticipated upcoming projects, as Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are expected to revitalize the Fantastic Four after a series of disappointing live-action adaptations. Matt Shakman’s MCU feature film debut seems to be heavily inspired by the Fantastic Four’s Marvel Comics history, which has inspired some incredible new fan art.

Marvel Studios previously revealed that at least five issues of Marvel Comics ranging from 1961 to 2021 would form the inspiration for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The first official teaser trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has proven that the vibrancy, color and fantastical nature of Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four stories will be key to their live-action recreation. This has also been mirrored in new fan art shared by Rafael Caban, which depicts the Fantastic Four as celebrities waving to the crowd, stressing their significance to the MCU.

What The Fantastic Four’s Debut Means For The MCU

The Fantastic Four’s Debut Will Change The MCU Forever

Known as Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four’s debut in Marvel Comics back in 1961 revitalized and re-energized Marvel’s storytelling, and the same is expected to happen in the live-action MCU. After 2005 and 2015’s disappointing adaptations of the Fantastic Four under the supervision of 20th Century Fox, there are hopes that the new version of the team will redeem them. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has teased that the Fantastic Four will be central to the MCU for several years to come, long after the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.

Marvel Studios is gearing up to introduce a slew of new mutant characters, including the X-Men, and there is speculation that these heroes and villains will take center-stage in a possible “Mutant Saga.” However, the Fantastic Four will still certainly be at the center of the MCU’s upcoming projects, with the cast already confirmed to be returning in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, and sequels to The Fantastic Four: First Steps being inevitable. The Fantastic Four are one of Marvel’s most popular properties, so their live-action reintroduction is hugely exciting.

Our Take On The Fantastic Four As New MCU Celebrity Heroes

Marvel Has Always Had Superheroes In The Public Eye

The Fantastic Four First Steps Prepare 4 Launch promotional poster

The first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has proven that the team will indeed already be in the public eye, that is, the public of their alternate universe’s version of Earth. This mirrors their history as celebrity superheroes in Marvel Comics, and continues a theme from the MCU’s history that has seen practically every superhero become a world-renowned celebrity, dating all the way back to Tony Stark in 2008’s Iron Man. The Fantastic Four being in the public eye has a hidden meaning, however, which makes their status far more poignant.

Reed Richards thrusts his family into the public eye after they receive their superpowers in an effort to make Ben Grimm’s physical transformation into the Thing more socially acceptable and less shocking. This causes new problems for the Fantastic Four, particularly when balancing their private and professional lives, which will be amazing to explore in the MCU. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is expected to be a very profitable and successful installment in the MCU, and they will be central to the franchise for years to come.
