Tom Hiddleston’s Loki Returns To Battle Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom In Stunning Avengers: Doomsday Art

Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom faces off with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki through new Avengers: Doomsday art for one of the biggest wars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Victor von Doom will finally be getting his time to shine in the MCU timeline soon, as Downey Jr. will bring the iconic Marvel villain to life in Phase 6. While Avengers: Doomsday is beginning filming later this year, there are still a lot of mysteries as to who will be part of the cast for the big team-up film.

As many heroes are bound to take part in Avengers: Doomsday, there are also various villains and morally gray characters who could take part in the Phase 6 installment. While time will tell if he is actually in the movie, AR_dzinr shared new artwork of Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, taking on none other than Hiddleston’s Loki. Check it out below:

The Avengers: Doomsday artwork is directly inspired by the new Daredevil: Born Again poster, which features Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil at opposite sides. Outside of Avengers: Doomsday, Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom has also been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.

What The Loki Vs. Doctor Doom Art Means For Avengers: Doomsday

Whether or not Hiddleston will be part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast remains to be seen, but fan-art pieces like this do showcase that this is a showdown many MCU fans would be open to seeing in the film. It would also be a very poetic way for him to be factored into the story, as Loki would technically be regarded as a hero now against Doctor Doom, especially after he became the God of Time in Loki season 2. For a big installment like Avengers: Doomsday, the stakes will be higher than ever, meaning the MCU will need all the help it can get across the franchise.

Ever since the end of Loki season 2, fans have made it very clear that they want to see Hiddleston come back as Loki in some capacity, whether it’s through a potential season 3 or other MCU projects. While Loki season 3 is unlikely to happen at this point, having Hiddleston’s fan-favorite player back for Avengers: Doomsday would be the most organic place to feature him once again. Given the danger the multiverse will be in, it would make perfect sense for Loki, as the God of Time, to get involved against someone like Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Our Take On The Loki Vs. Doctor Doom In Avengers: Doomsday Art

Loki using magic to protect a branching timeline in Loki season 2

Based on the Avengers: Doomsday art itself, it would be fantastic if Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and Hiddleston’s Loki were pitted against each other. If the MCU were to ever bring back Loki, it needs to be for a very good reason, and having him in the Avengers: Doomsday story would make he decision worth it without feeling like Marvel Studios is undoing the Loki season 2 finale. But for now, until Avengers: Doomsday begins principal pH๏τography, the MCU audience will have to wait and see whether or not Hiddleston will return as Loki in Phase 6 at all.
