Set during the Korean War, Devotion‘s cast is made up of some rising stars and character actors to tell this war story of real-life Navy pilots. Based on a true story and adapted from the nonfiction book Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice by Adam Makos, the movie is set in the early 1950s, when Americans aided South Korea in their conflict with North Korea. Devotion focuses on two real American pilots, Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner, who served in the Korean War and became great friends and even greater aviators.

While centered on two main characters, played by Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell, Devotion also features a noteworthy supporting cast as well. As with any war movie — even those set mostly within the confines of small aircraft — the ensemble is key. Among the supporting players in Devotion is a pop singer less known for acting, a TV veteran, and some actors whose profiles only grew after this movie. Jonathan Majors

As Jesse Brown

Character: In Devotion, he portrays Jesse L. Brown, a decorated hero of the Korean War who also had the distinction of being the first African-American U.S. Navy pilot to see combat. He is a man who dedicates himself entirely to his job, pushing himself harder than anyone to prove he is the best. He has to do this all while also contending with the racism he faces in everyday life, using the bigotry and injustice directed towards him and his family to motivate him further.

His profile rose even higher when he joined the MCU as its latest big-bad villain, Kang, in Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While he was going to lead Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Majors was fired following his conviction for ᴀssault.

Glen Powell

As Tom Hudner

Character: In Devotion, for which he also served as an executive producer, Powell portrays real-life U.S. Navy hero Thomas J. Hudner Jr., who received the Medal of Honor for his part in the Korean War as depicted in the movie. Hudner develops a strong friendship with Brown, seeing him as a peer even if some others in the military don’t see it the same way. However, Hudner also has to learn to allow Brown to fight his own battles and simply be there to back up his friend.

Christina Jackson

As Daisy Brown

Character: In Devotion, Christina Jackson plays Jesse Brown’s wife, Daisy. She is a supportive and loving wife but one who is concerned about the risks of Brown’s duties. She also must contend with the same bigotry as her husband deals with, including being harᴀssed by their racist neighbors. However, like Jesse, Daisy finds a friend in Hudner, relying on him to be there for her husband when she cannot be.

Character: Devotion, he plays real-life pilot Marty Goode, another Korean War hero. Goode is something of the class clown among the pilots in the movie, breaking up the tension of their dangerous lifestyles with some humor. This also provides some nice comedic relief for the film in general. However, despite his jokes, Goode is also an experienced and confident pilot with years of experience who understands what it means to go into battle.

Thomas Sadoski

As Dick Cevoli

Character: Theater and screen actor Thomas Sadoski appears in the cast of Devotion as World War II and Korean War fighter pilot Richard L. Cevoli. He serves as the squadron leader who prepares the pilots for the fight ahead, not ignoring the dangerous missions they will face in the future. However, he also treats the pilots with respect, even inviting them over to his house for dinner. He also knows that Brown is a skilled pilot and attempts to have him treated like the other pilots in the squadron.

Actor: Thomas Sadoski found his breakout role as part of the cast of Aaron Sorkin’s drama series The Newsroom, playing news producer Don Keefer. He also appeared as the friendly police officer Jimmy in the John Wick franchise. Serinda Swan as Elizabeth Taylor – In Devotion, Serinda Swan plays Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor, who Brown happens to meet on a beach in France. Devotion is actually not her first time portraying a famous actress, as she appeared as Anne Bancroft in FX’s Feud: Bette and Joan. She also played Medusa in Marvel Studios’ Inhumans series and co-starred in the shows Coroner, Ballers, and Graceland.

Daren Kagasoff as Bill Koenig – Daren Kagasoff is best known for playing Ricky Underwood on the ABC Family show The Secret Life of the American Teenager. As part of the cast of Devotion, Kagasoff plays real-life Korean War fighter pilot Bill Koenig.
