Amy Schumer Wants To Start Her Own Branch Of Adam Sandler’s Production Company After Kinda Pregnant

Amy Schumer and Jillian Bell have put their comedic brains together for Kinda Pregnant. Schumer and Bell play Lainy and Kate, two lifelong friends that dream of raising their own respective families since their childhoods. When Kate gets legitimately pregnant, Lainy doesn’t want to miss out on the attention, leading her to fake her own pregnancy with a baby bump pillow.

This is Schumer and Bell’s first time sharing the screen together. Schumer, a veteran comedian, began to make waves on the big screen in 2015 with Trainwreck and has since starred in projects like Snatched and I Feel Pretty. Bell’s breakout role came in 22 Jump Street, and she has since led feature films like Brittany Runs A Marathon and Godmothered.

In celebration of Kinda Pregnant‘s streaming premiere on Netflix, ScreenRant spoke with Schumer and Bell to discuss the pair of actresses’ chemistry, Schumer’s pairing with leading man Will Forte, and how Adam Sandler’s production company producing this film could lead to more collaborations down the line.

Amy Schumer’s Love Interest Pairings With SNL Alums

“I hope everybody walks away from this movie with a crush on Will Forte…”

Will Forte in Kinda Pregnant

ScreenRant: Amy, you worked with Bill Hader in Trainwreck. You worked with Will Forte in this movie. What is it about you that turns these SNL jokesters into such compᴀssionate loverboys?

Amy Schumer: I love to take a sneaky H๏τ, like a Michael Cera, someone where you go like, ‘Oh, they’re so funny,’ but maybe you didn’t have a crush on them. And I love it. I hope everybody walks away from this movie with a crush on Will Forte.

Schumer & Bell Anticipate Many More Movies Together

“First time, hopefully not the last…”

Jillian Bell in Kinda Pregnant

Your chemistry here is so palpable, and it shocks me that this is your first time working together on screen.

Amy Schumer: First time. Hopefully not the last time.

Jillian Bell: Not the last. I just knew the second I met her [that it was going to work]. I met her once at an after party of the Emmy’s show, and it was like we just walked up to each other and we’re like, ‘Hi.’

Amy Schumer: It was just like we had a shorthand. It was like, we don’t have to know. We’re already from when we met.

Jillian Bell: You don’t have to be like, ‘Where are you from?’ You’re just like, ‘And my period’s terrible.’

Amy Schumer: We were like, ‘We could go on a vacation together right now and not talk.’

Jillian Bell: Not talk, but know how each other was feeling. It was very easy. It was very easy with us.

Adam Sandler’s Production Company Produced Kinda Pregnant

“I want to start my own branch of Happy Madison…”

You guys were able to work with Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison, on this one. Is this the first of many projects between you guys?

Amy Schumer: I certainly hope so. I want to start my own branch of Happy Madison called Ashley Madison.

Speaking of just the raunchiness of this movie, I was so shocked by just how much you guys are pushing the levels of this movie. Was there anything that was considered too far?

Amy Schumer: Absolutely. I mean, we got pulled back. There’s a lot that’s not in this movie that is equally sick.

Jillian Bell: I feel like the Sєx scene is one of the funniest Sєx scenes I’ve ever seen.
