Almost Every Movie In A 2000s Horror Franchise Surges On Streaming After 2025 Revival Sequel’s Chilling New Trailer Drops

Almost every movie in a 2000s horror franchise has surged to streaming success after the upcoming 2025 revival sequel’s chilling new trailer dropped. Multiple horror franchises that began decades ago have been revived in recent years, with everything from the upcoming Scream 7 to the recently, critically-praised Saw X bringing more eyes to series that have been ongoing for many years. Newer installments allow these series to flourish in different environments they couldn’t have before, while also drawing renewed attention to previous installments that may have been out of the spotlight for several years.

This is even easier with the advent of streaming, offering smoother access to older horror franchise installments than ever before. While some series, like The Texas Chainsaw Mᴀssacre movies, haven’t gotten much fanfare or critical acclaim, those like the aforementioned Scream continue to prove horror revivals can be successful. Another popular series of movies is also proving the power of new entries after a lengthy hiatus, coming just after the franchise’s upcoming revival got a trailer teasing its return.

Final Destination Takes Multiple Top Spots On Streaming

All Five Movies Are Now On Max

Now, the Final Destination franchise has become a mᴀssive streaming hit, with multiple entries rising in popularity after its revival’s new trailer. The horror series follows groups of characters who are warned about catastrophes that would result in their deaths, only to be targeted by supernatural forces that kill them anyway in various over-the-top accidents. The first five movies came out between 2000 and 2011, while the upcoming Final Destination: Bloodlines will be released on May 16, 2025. Its first teaser was released on February 3, promising creative deaths are in store.

Now, FlixPatrol reports that four movies in the Final Destination franchise are on Max’s Top 10 movies list for February 6, 2025, in the United States. Final Destination ranks at Number 4, Final Destination 2 at Number 6, Final Destination 3 at Number 9, and Final Destination 5 at Number 10. The fourth film, тιтled The Final Destination, didn’t crack the Top 10, but is still available to watch on Max. Other movies on the list include Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Mechanic: Resurrection, Uncharted, Speed, Dredd, and the Number 1 film, Goodrich.

What Final Destination’s Streaming Success Says About The Horror Franchise

Can Its At-Home Popularity Be Repeated In Theaters?

Multiple entries reflect the series’ popularity on Max, something that isn’t too surprising given the movies’ consistent rate of moderate box office success. Given how Final Destination: Bloodlines‘ teaser focused on a return to form for the franchise’s creative kills, it makes sense that excitement would be reflected in the series rising in popularity on streaming. However, the quick jump of four entries onto Max’s Top 10 means the horror franchise might have a strong future ahead of it, potentially reflected in theatrical success for its latest installment.

Final Destination: Bloodlines arrives in theaters on May 16, 2025.
