The Sauropod Makes Its Franchise Debut

The тιтanosaurus appears in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth as Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) and Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) spot them in the field they are standing in. The scene is reminiscent of the original Jurᴀssic Park when Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) see the Brachiosaurus for the first time. The тιтanosaurus might be from the same group as the Brachiosaurus, but it is noticeably different in appearance through the spine on the top of its neck and lower back, as well as the longer, skinnier tale.

This marks the first time the тιтanosaurus has appeared in the Jurᴀssic movies. The creature was previously referenced in LEGO Jurᴀssic World: Legend of Isla Nublar, which is not canon to the main movies and TV shows. Quetzalcoatlus

The Giant, Flying Creature Returns

The Quetzalcoatlus is in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth repeatedly, as there are multiple of them in the film. This includes the one Zora and Henry encounter as they attempt to steal the dinosaur’s DNA from an egg. This is because the Quetzalcoatlus is the biggest dinosaur in the air. The sequence revolves around them going into ancient ruins in the side of a cliff and extracting the DNA before the mother Quetzalcoatlus returns. This does not go as planned, leading to Zora attempting to fight off the pterosaur before Henry falls to his death.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth marks the first return of the Quetzalcoatlus in the franchise. The azhdarchid pterosaur made its debut in Jurᴀssic World Dominion, where multiple of them are shown throughout the film. There are three of them last seen flying together with geese and Pteranodons. Three of the Quetzalcoatlus are also shown circling in the sky in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, indicating these could be the same ones from Dominion. This would make sense since the main plot revolves around dinosaurs dying and struggling to acclimate to their new environments.

Velociraptor

The Raptors Are Back

Velociraptors are a mainstay of the Jurᴀssic movies, and it is confirmed that they are featured again in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. One is teased to be in the proximity of Henry and another human character at night, as the velociraptor’s feet and claws are shown walking through water. This does leave open the potential for this creature to be a new type of raptor, like how Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom introduced the Indoraptor. Since Henry only refers to the dinosaur as a non-descript “raptor,” a full look at it is still needed.

New Hybrid Dinosaur

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Creates A Brand New Dinosaur

Sticking to the tradition of the Jurᴀssic World movies, the fourth installment introduces a brand new hybrid dinosaur. The monstrous design is inspired by the Rancor from Star Wars, the Xenomorph from Alien, and more, creating a new and terrifying foe for humanity. It is seen a few different times terrorizing the main Jurᴀssic World Rebirth characters. One instance puts Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) in grave danger, while another potential flashback shows the dinosaur attacking a scientist in a research facility.

This unnamed hybrid dinosaur comes from Site C, the secret research facility for the original Jurᴀssic Park. It is one of the failed creations that was deemed to be too dangerous to be present in the original park. That implies some level of hybrid mutation went into its creation. The full scale of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth‘s monster dinosaur’s strength and abilities is unknown, but it is referred to as one of the “worst of the worst” dinosaurs to come from the original research projects.

Dilophosaurus

A Familiar Dinosaur Comes Back

The Dilophosaurus returns to the franchise as it is featured encountering a girl from a family stranded on the secret Site C island. The theropod is shown with its frills exposed, signaling it is about to attack or feels endangered. The Dilophosaurus can spit venom at potential enemies up to 20 feet away, so it would have to get much closer to the girl in this sequence to kill her potentially.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is the third time that the Dilophosaurus has been seen in the Jurᴀssic movies. It was one of the original dinosaurs in Jurᴀssic Park and is only encountered by Dennis Nedry, who is killed by the venom during an attack. It took decades for the Dilophosaurus to return properly, as it was not seen again until Jurᴀssic World Dominion – not counting the hologram appearance in Jurᴀssic World. This is presumably not the same Dilophosaurus featured in Jurᴀssic World Dominion, though.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

The Iconic Dinosaur Returns In A New Way

It wouldn’t be a Jurᴀssic movie without the T-Rex, so it is not a surprise that a Tyrannosaurus Rex is in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. The movie includes a new version of the T-Rex living on Site C. This includes Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, which revives a scene cut from the original movie. The T-Rex chases the main characters down a river in a sequence similar to one featured in Michael Crichton’s novel. The result is another opportunity to show how scary and dangerous the Tyrannosaurus Rex can be to humans.

It is worth noting that this is not the franchise’s original T-Rex, lovingly known by fans as Rexy. Rexy was last seen in Jurᴀssic World Dominion in the remains of the Biosyn sanctuary. Since the majority of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth takes place on Site C, there is no way for Rexy to have made it back to this island. Furthermore, the T-Rex featured here has a slightly different appearance than the franchise’s iconic apex predator. Spinosaurus

The Jurᴀssic Park III Dinosaurs Return At Last

The Spinosaurus is back in the franchise for the first time since Jurᴀssic Park III. The 2001 trilogy conclusion marked the introduction of the Spinosaurus as the main threat for Alan Grant and others. Thanks to the dinosaur’s terrifying presence and great design, there was always a contingent of fans who wanted to see them return. This did not happen in the first three Jurᴀssic World movies, but now Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has brought the Spinosaurus back in a glorious way.

The role of the Spinosaurus in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is a bit different. For starters, there are three of them featured in this movie, as opposed to the single dinosaur in Jurᴀssic Park III. The biggest confirmed sequence with the dinosaurs comes as they attack a boat with all the main characters aboard. They are shown leaping out of the water and attempting to climb onto the boat to eat the pᴀssengers. There is also a notable difference in their role as they are not the biggest predator around and are instead working with the largest sea creature.

Mosasaurus

The Mosasaur Keeps Threatening Humanity

The Mosasaurus also returns in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth as part of the boat attack sequence, with the Spinosaurus dinosaurs helping it. The gargantuan underwater creature enters the plot as the biggest dinosaur in the water, making it a central part of the mission Zora and Henry are on. They get an up-close look at just how large the Mosasaurus is during the boat attack. It’s unclear how they hope to acquire the being’s DNA, but that is what they are attempting to do.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth marks the fourth consecutive appearance by the Mosasaurus in the franchise’s films. The original Jurᴀssic World was the first time that the Mosasaurus appeared in the series, as it was the centerpiece attraction at the reopened park. Its escape paved the way for additional appearances in Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurᴀssic World Dominion. It was confirmed to still be alive at the end of the trilogy, and now it appears to have found its way close to Site C as it attempts to survive.
