The Biggest Fantastic Four Story Theory Just Got Way More Likely Thanks To 2 Trailer Scenes

A major theory about The Fantastic Four: First Steps with some huge implications for the MCU just got significantly more likely based on some key scenes in the movie’s new trailer. The story of The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been one of the more extensively theorized about in the MCU’s recent history – in part because there are relatively few details known about what to expect from the upcoming MCU movie. As such, it’s no surprise that The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer gained over 4 million views on Youtube in 3 hours.

While the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer debunks some theories about the film and its story, it makes some appear even stronger again. In fact, while the trailer takes care to not reveal too much about its story and what events actively take place in the release, several scenes within its minute and a half runtime serve to make one big theory about the Marvel movie and the fate of those within it seem even more like it could come to pᴀss, which is fascinating given how crucial it would be to the MCU.

A Major Theory About The Fantastic Four: First Steps Is That The Universe The Movie Is Based In Will Be Destroyed

The Theory Would Explain How The Fantastic Four End Up Joining The Main MCU Universe

The Fantastic Four stood together in The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)

Since the early days of audiences being aware of The Fantastic Four: First Steps – and particularly since it became clear the story would be in a different time period and universe – arguably the biggest theory regarding the movie has been that the world it’s based in will be decimated or outright destroyed. This makes sense, since it could justify why the Fantastic Four end up in the main MCU timeline, and why they would remain there, which logically would be a franchise priority given the prominence of the group in the comics, unless an MCU reboot does take place.

This theory also makes sense in terms of The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ place in the Multiverse Saga, since it releasing in the midst of this part of the MCU’s story – and well after the concept of universe-destroying incursions was first introduced – does add more weight to the idea. The later reveal that Galactus would be a part of the movie only exacerbated these ideas, since showing the Marvel planet devourer destroying the Fantastic Four’s Earth or universe would serve as an effective way to underline the character’s threat to audiences without putting the main universe’s world at risk.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Trailer Supports The Theory Their Universe Will Be Destroyed With 2 Major Scenes

The Trailer Makes The Theory Seem Very Much Possible

The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer features a fascinating array of reveals about the upcoming MCU movie, with scenes showing off what Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing and Galactus will look like in the film, and providing some sneak peeks at its story and tone, as well. Interestingly, the trailer also seems to support the idea of the movie showing the end of the Fantastic Four’s world via two scenes, which each have some interesting implications.

Firstly, the trailer shows the main cast looking into the sky of their city and seeing it filled with fireballs, which seems to bode poorly for what happens next – especially since a later moment shows Ben Grimm running through a rubble-filled street, suggesting the city takes some considerable damage. Later on, the trailer’s Galactus debut features the character’s shadow appearing over New York and then the Statue of Liberty, which appears to spell doom for America if not Earth itself given the immensely powerful character’s proximity to it, and his comic reputation as a destroyer and devourer of worlds.

Why It Would Make Sense For The Fantastic Four Movie Theory To Come True

The MCU’s Setup Means Destroying The Fantastic Four’s World Makes Sense

Were the Fantastic Four able to best Galactus with no issues or damage sustained, it would arguably undermine both the intimidation factor of the vastly powerful Marvel character, and the stakes at hand. This is doubly true given it’s a criticism MCU viewers already had regarding Kang in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, with Ant-Man defeating Kang and undermining his intimidation factor as the then-antagonist of Avengers 5, especially since a common fan theory beforehand was that someone would have to sacrifice themselves in order to take such a powerful Marvel villain out.

While the MCU may have had plans to make Kang’s various variants more imposing following the film, the shift to a Doctor Doom focused Avengers 5 means the anticlimactic defeat of a major Marvel villain in Quantumania doesn’t have the same kind of potential to be turned around, and thus the franchise needs to avoid its other major players having similarly underwhelming defeats. As such, allowing the Fantastic Four to face Galactus and live makes most sense if it comes at a high cost – like, for example, the destruction of the world they held dear.

The Fantastic Four Movie Theory Would Help Set Up Both Upcoming Avengers Films & 1 Key Marvel Villain

The MCU Theory Comign To Fruition Would Provide Some Pretty Much Setup Help

First and foremost, The Fantastic Four: First Steps showing the destruction of a world that’s being attacked by Galactus would work to underline the threat level that such a colossal cosmic villain should have. Even if the world isn’t destroyed by Galactus himself, showing him surviving something that wiped out countless lives would also work to the same end. Following Thanos’ death in the MCU, the franchise hasn’t had much in the way of consistent major villains, and so taking time to build up Galactus is sure to pay off for the franchise going forward whatever their plans are.

On the other side of things, destroying a whole universe would really help to set up the Multiverse Saga further for its upcoming big Avengers movies, and help the franchise’s overarching story feel like the stakes are getting higher, since it’s a perfect example of the dangers that the MCU’s main universe looks posed to face. Combined with the obvious advantage of being able to springboard the MCU team into the bigger multiversal picture, there are plenty of reasons for The Fantastic Four: First Steps theory to come true, especially after the recent support provided by the movie’s trailer.
