Final Destination 6: Release Date, Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know About Bloodlines

Death is back as the ultimate inescapable antagonist in Final Destination: Bloodlines, and the franchise’s next installment will shake up the formula. Final Destination started life as a spec script for an episode of The X-Files by Jeffrey Reddick, under the тιтle “Flight 180.” 2000’s Final Destination proved to be a surprise smash hit thanks to its simple but ingenious premise, the creativity of its deaths, and refraining from showing Death as a flesh and blood killer but instead depicting it as an unstoppable force of nature.

Several sequels later, 2011’s Final Destination 5 received surprisingly strong reviews for regaining the sense of fun inherent to the series. While the Final Destination series has been dormant for a while, it was always a solid earner for New Line both theatrically and on home media, with the five films collectively grossing hundreds of millions worldwide. Despite this, it seemed that the Final Destination franchise might be over — but with recent news of a forthcoming “re-imagining” on the horizon, Final Destination: Bloodlines has helped the franchise cheat death yet again.

A few months after the movie set its release date, the latest news arrives in the form of the first trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines. The trailer, which is actually just an extended scene from the film, showcases an apathetic tattoo artist who finishes up giving a client a tongue piercing before closing up shop.

Mourning the recent death of his dad, the character begins to tattoo himself as a series of strange events happen around him. Cleaning fluid spills on the floor and is ignited by a falling lamp at the same time as a chain catches the tattooer by the nose ring and ensnares him in a ceiling fan. He finally frees himself, only to fall into a pool of burning fluid where he is immediately engulfed in flames.

The sixth movie will have one week of IMAX screenings during that month, and there is little compeтιтion on the schedule for now.

Final Destination 5 was released on August 12, 2011.

The Sixth Movie Will Change Everything

The cast of Final Destination 5 on a crumbling bridge

The plot of Final Destination: Bloodlines is surprisingly one of the most already-discussed aspects of the movie. Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick explained (via Hidden Remote) that the movie “is not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.” Reddick added “…this is a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established.”

It has been hinted that the rules of the Final Destination universe will be shaken up in Final Destination: Bloodlines, though that won’t likely be revealed until the film premiers.

The only real details revealed about the sixth movie is how it will focus on first responders and emergency workers who are already deeply familiar with death – only this time, they’re the ones in its path. It has been hinted that the rules of the Final Destination universe will be shaken up in Final Destination: Bloodlines, though that won’t likely be revealed until the film premiers. Since Tony Todd’s Bludworth will be a key part of the film, perhaps his backstory will somehow inform the major changes.

With only a few months until the movie’s premiere, a trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines was dropped in February 2025. Essentially an extended scene from the movie, the trailer features a grieving tattoo artist as he cleans up his shop while tattooing himself. A chain gets caught in the ceiling fan at the same time that it accidentally snags his nose ring. Coincidentally, cleaning fluid spills and is ignited by a falling lamp. The character frees himself only to fall in a flaming pool of chemicals.
