What Trailers To Expect During The 2025 Super Bowl

A handful of new trailers for some of 2025’s most anticipated movies are expected to premiere during commercial breaks of the upcoming Super Bowl LIX. The 2025 Super Bowl will begin at 6:30 PM Eastern Time on Sunday, February 9, 2025, and will be broadcast exclusively on FOX. The Kansas City Chiefs return to their fifth Super Bowl in six seasons for a Super Bowl LVII rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles, who last won a Super Bowl in 2018.

Compton-based rapper and 22-time Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. Since Disney, Paramount, and Universal are the only major Hollywood studios reported to have purchased 2025 Super Bowl ad space (via ᴅᴇᴀᴅline), the list of new release trailers can be narrowed down to roughly a dozen тιтles. While there are bound to be a few surprises during the broadcast, some of the most anticipated movies of 2025 are nearly guaranteed to release new trailers.

Snow White

Release Date: March 21, 2025

A new trailer for Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White should air during the 2025 Super Bowl. Rachel Zegler, known for 2021’s West Side Story reboot and 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, takes on the role of the classic Disney princess. She’ll appear alongside former Wonder Woman Gal Gadot, who will portray the Evil Queen in the film. Marc Webb of (500) Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man acclaim will direct.

Zegler’s casting as Snow White sparked a hateful backlash against the 23-year-old actress, who was raised in New Jersey by her American father and Colombian mother. While Zegler will sing many if not all the original songs in the Disney classic, she will also debut a new song тιтled “Waiting on a Wish”, which was teased by Disney’s social media platforms on Christmas Day 2024.

Lilo & Sтιтch

Release Date: May 23. 2025

Another live-action Disney adaptation, Lilo & Sтιтch, is set for a 2025 release and should debut a new trailer during Super Bowl LIX. Lilo & Sтιтch was originally released as an animated film in 2002 and inspired a television series in 2003 and a sequel in 2005. One of Disney’s more popular millennial franchises, Lilo & Sтιтch should find modern appeal with a new generation of younger audiences through its live-action format.

Hannah Waddingham of Ted Lᴀsso acclaim stars alongside Zach Galifianakis in the Lilo & Sтιтch cast. Billy Magnussen and Tia Carrere also star, while four-time Oscar nominee and voice actor Chris Sanders returns as the voice of Sтιтch. Dean Fleischer Camp, known for the beloved animated film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, is set to direct. 2025’s Lilo & Sтιтch is expected to be a loyal remake of the celebrated 2002 classic film.

Elio

Release Date: June 13, 2025

Elio is the highly anticipated 29th film made by Pixar, the animated company known for Toy Story, The Incredibles, and many other modern animated classics. Following the gargantuan box office success of Inside Out 2, Elio will be the follow-up to 2024’s highest-grossing film of the year. The film was originally scheduled for a March 2025 release date but is now expected to come out on June 13, 2025, priming it for an official trailer drop during Super Bowl LIX.

Written and directed by Adrian Molina, Elio follows its young тιтular protagonist as he journeys to outer space and meets alien lifeforms. While still mostly targeted at kids and families, Elio plans to push Pixar’s genre and ratings boundaries, which would make it one of the more progressive films in Pixar’s arsenal. Elio is voiced by Yonas Kibreab and features an ensemble cast including Zoe Saldaña, Brad Garrett, Jameela Jamil, and Shirley Henderson.

Thunderbolts*

Release Date: May 2, 2025

Thunderbolts* is one of Disney’s most exciting MCU releases of 2025 and should be promoted during Super Bowl XIL. Often described as the MCU’s answer to DC’s Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts* welcomes Marvel newcomers such as Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Thunderbolts* is directed by Jake Schreier, known for television series such as Shameless, Skeleton Crew, and eight-time Emmy winner Beef.

While a teaser trailer and a special look D23 feature have already been released for Thunderbolts*, which will be released in theaters on May 2, 2025, Disney could drop its official trailer during the Super Bowl. The film could spark a Guardians of the Galaxy type of franchise within the larger MCU, depending on the critical reviews and box office revenue of Thunderbolts*. Although Oscar nominee Sebastian Stan is not returning for Captain America: Brave New World, releasing on February 14, he will star in Thunderbolts*.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Release Date: July 25, 2025

Another H๏τly anticipated 2025 MCU entry, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will likely be put on display during the Super Bowl LIX broadcast. The Fantastic Four: First Steps also introduces a slate of new faces to the MCU, including Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible – ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning), Joseph Quinn (Gladiator II), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear).

The Fantastic Four: First Steps marks the first Fantastic Four film since 2015’s heavily criticized reboot starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan. Disney has confirmed that the first official trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released on February 4, 2025, which essentially sets up its appearance during Super Bowl LIX. With a late July release date, The Fantastic Four: First Steps could very well be Disney’s blockbuster event of summer 2025.

How To Train Your Dragon

Release Date: June 13, 2025

Another live-action adaptation of a beloved animated classic, How to Train Your Dragon, will arrive in mid-June, 2025. The original 2010 film is often considered one of the best DreamWorks animated movies ever made, spawning 2014 and 2019 sequels and two Disney series. The 2010 original made nearly $495 million at the worldwide box office, making it one of the highest-grossing DreamWorks animated films ever made.

Dean DeBlois returns to write and direct the 2025 How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake. Gerard Butler reprises his role as Stoick alongside a cast that includes Mason Thomas as Hiccup, Nico Parker as Astrid, Julian Dennison as Fishlegs, and Nick Frost as Gobber. Since a second trailer for How to Train Your Dragon has already been released following its brief teaser, DreamWorks may just enter that on the Super Bowl LIX platform if they don’t release a new official trailer.

Jurᴀssic World: Rebirth

Release Date: July 2, 2025

A trailer for Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is also expected to make an appearance on FOX during Super Bowl Sunday 2025. Following the underwhelming end to the Chris Pratt-led Jurᴀssic World trilogy with 2022’s Jurᴀssic World Dominion, Universal wasted no time in putting together another franchise blockbuster set to be released on July 2, 2025. Gareth Edwards of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Creator will direct the film based on a screenplay by original Jurᴀssic Park screenwriter David Koepp.

Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey will star in the seventh film of the Jurᴀssic Park universe. They will be joined by Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Ed Skrein, Luna Blaise, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. As its тιтle suggests, Jurᴀssic World: Rebirth allows the franchise to start over after a series of less beloved entries following 2015’s Jurᴀssic World. That being said, the Jurᴀssic World trilogy grossed more than $3.98 billion across three films.

M3GAN 2.0

Release Date: June 27, 2025

M3GAN became a surprise horror hit in January 2023, similar to 2025’s recent critically acclaimed horror Companion. M3GAN 2.0 is a direct sequel to M3GAN and features the return of the murderous robotic doll who is resurrected by her creator Gemma, played by Allison Williams. Produced by Blumhouse and distributed by Universal, M3GAN 2.0 could make a brief appearance in a 2025 Super Bowl Sunday commercial. Its teaser was just revealed during the Grammys on February 2, 2025.

With an expected budget of around $12 million, it’s unlikely that Universal would pour millions into playing an extended trailer for M3GAN 2.0 during Super Bowl LIX. Director Gerard Johnstone returns to direct the M3GAN ​​​​​​​sequel, which will feature appearances by Jermaine Clement, Brian Jordan Alvarez, and Amie Donald as M3GAN. Akela Cooper, known for her horror writing work on The Nun II and Malignant, returns for the sequel as well.

Novocaine

Release Date: March 14, 2025

Fresh off his starring role in Companion, Jack Quaid of The Boys acclaim stars in another comedy-thriller hybrid called Novocaine. Distributed by Paramount, Novocaine follows Quaid’s Nathan Caine, a man with a rare superhuman condition that allows him to feel no pain. Nathan springs into action once he discovers the girl of his dreams, played by Amber Midthunder, is kidnapped, putting his unusual abilities to the test.

Novocaine arrives on the heels of February action thriller blockbusters such as Love Hurts starring Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan and Old Guy starring Oscar winner Christoph Waltz. While Quaid doesn’t have any Oscars of his own, he does have leading man appeal as the son of the famed actor Dennis Quaid. The trailer for Novocaine has already been released and could find its way onto the Super Bowl Sunday broadcast.

Smurfs

Release Date: July 18, 2025

A Smurfs reboot is expected to be released in 2025 based on the celebrated 1980s animated series and the slate of 2010s movies. Smurfs, which is also being called The Smurfs Movie, is by directors Chris Miller (Puss in Boots) and Matt Landon (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) based on a screenplay by Pam Brady (South Park). The film is set to be an animated musical starring the classic blue characters.

Smurfs features a large ensemble cast including Hannah Waddingham, Natasha Lyonne, Dan Levy, Kurt Russell, John Goodman, Nick Offerman, Sandra Oh, Nick Kroll, and more. Since a trailer has not yet been released for The Smurfs Movie, and it’s scheduled for a mid-Julu release, a Super Bowl 2025 trailer or teaser premiere could be in the works from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies this Sunday.

Alien: Earth

Release Date: July 17, 2025

Following 2024’s feature film Alien: Romulus, the upcoming streaming series Alien: Earth is expected to be released in July 2025 on Hulu. Created by Noah Hawley of Fargo and Legion acclaim, Alien: Earth is already one of the most highly-anticipated original series of 2025. The latest Alien: Earth teaser trailer is from the eerie perspective of a Xenomorph, showcasing how the alien creature gets to Earth to set up the series.

Alien: Earth will feature an ensemble cast including Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling), Alex Lawther (Black Mirror), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), and Essie Davies (The Babadook). It will mark the first Alien streaming series since 2019’s Alien: Isolation, a digital series that was released on IGN in 2019. Alien: Earth will be the first true-to-form television series in franchise history. While the series is rated TV-MA, there could be a more family-friendly teaser during Super Bowl Sunday.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Release Date: May 23, 2025

The wait for the eighth installment of Tom Cruise’s larger-than-life Mission: Impossible movie franchise is almost over. A direct sequel to 2023’s Mission: Impossible – ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning, Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning could mark the end of Cruise portraying his celebrated action hero, Ethan Hunt. Skydance Media and Paramount Pictures have already released a trailer for Final Reckoning. It will most certainly be broadcast during Super Bowl Sunday.

Initially slated for a summer 2024 release, Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning was delayed a year due to the WGA and SAG strikes of 2023. Originally тιтled ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning Part Two, a good portion of Final Reckoning was already filmed by the time ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning came out in July 2023. Cruise will return as Ethan Hunt alongside Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Holt McCallany. Whether its trailer plays during Super Bowl LIX or not, Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning should be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2025.
