Netflix has revealed 29 new Korean-based projects for 2025. Though it is not their only show in the language, Netflix’s Korean-language series Squid Game is the best-known K-drama on the streamer to date. Squid Game season 2 premiered on December 26, 2024, and was met with high viewership numbers. Netflix recently confirmed that the show’s third and final season will be released on June 27. In addition to Squid Game, Netflix’s existing K-drama shows include Queen of Tears, All of Us ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, and Sweet Home.

What This Means For Netflix

Squid Game Stars Are In Several Of The Projects

Several of the announced тιтles include stars from Squid Game. Kang Ha-neul, who played Dae-ho (aka Player 388) in Squid Game season 2, is in three тιтles including Wall to Wall, Tastefully Yours, and Squid Game season 3. This will be a big year for the actor, as he will have Netflix тιтles coming out in Q2 and Q3. Yim Si-Wan also returns to Squid Game as player 333, but he will also be in the film Mantis with Park Gyu-young, who plays Squid Game‘s guard 011.

The Netflix slate is indicative of just how powerful Squid Game‘s influence is, and it is a power that will only grow. K-dramas have had a growing international appeal for several years now, and have been a quieter addition to Netflix’s slate for a few years. With 29 upcoming тιтles, Netflix is significantly expanding their commitment to Korean-language content. If this 2025 plan is successful, this production is sure to continue.

Our Take On Netflix’s K-Drama Expansion

Squid Game Has Huge Influence

The streamer has Squid Game to thank for this growth opportunity. The fact that several Squid Game actors will be featured in this upcoming K-drama slate is no surprise, as they will likely be a draw in the project’s marketing campaign. Squid Game has put Korean television on the map internationally, and its success might have a compounding effect as Netflix heads into a busy year for K-drama.
