Knives Out 3’s Release Window Means Netflix Officially Has A Murder Mystery Head-To-Head In 2025

After the success of the first two outings, Knives Out 3 is set to be one of Netflix’s biggest projects in 2025, but with the film getting an official update on its release window, it looks set to go head-to-head with another murder mystery movie. Updates about Knives Out 3‘s cast were rampant throughout 2024, as the film added star after star, creating even more anticipation about the sequel. Both Knives Out and Glᴀss Onion had some huge names attached, with the likes of Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Edward Norton, and Hugh Grant all involved.

Remarkably, this was only the tip of the iceberg, with plenty of other recognizable faces appearing, including Daniel Craig, who stars in both movies. He is set to return for Wake Up ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which will look to continue the momentum of the beloved series and provide Netflix with another smash hit. However, despite the film’s star power, the murder mystery sequel will have some serious compeтιтion, as The Thursday Murder Club will rival Knives Out 3. The two projects already appeared to have similar strengths, but they may also be released alongside one another.

Knives Out 3 & The Thursday Murder Club Both Look Set To Release In Late 2025

The Two Murder Mysteries Look Likely To Have Compeтιтive Release Dates

Netflix has confirmed that the next Knives Out movie will be released in the fall of 2025, and while The Thursday Murder Club doesn’t yet have an official window, it is also scheduled to come out at some point in 2025. Given the lack of updates about the adaptation of Richard Osman’s murder mystery novel, it seems likely to hit screens towards the latter end of 2025, meaning there may be little time between the two highly-anticipated films. As a result, they could end up going head-to-head, confirming that the streaming service has some healthy compeтιтion in the genre.

Unless The Thursday Murder Club gets delayed, it will likely be released shortly after Rian Johnson’s third Knives Out film, meaning fans of murder mysteries have plenty to look forward to in late 2025.

Knives Out 3‘s mysteries surrounding Benoit Blanc alongside its established tone give it an advantage, but The Thursday Mystery Club shouldn’t be overlooked. The original novel received a strong reception, and with Osman having several other books in the series, the adaptation has plenty of sequel potential that could help it match Knives Out‘s popularity. Unless The Thursday Murder Club gets delayed, it will likely be released shortly after Rian Johnson’s third Knives Out film, proving fans of murder mysteries have plenty to look forward to in late 2025, especially since both projects have excellent casts.

The Thursday Murder Club’s Cast Rivals Knives Out 3’s Impressive Ensemble

Both Projects Have Incredibly Exciting Names Attached

While the Knives Out franchise has become known for its impressive cast, The Thursday Murder Club also has plenty of exciting names involved. In addition to Daniel Craig, Wake Up ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Man: A Knives Out Mystery is set to feature Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Glenn Close, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, and several other notable names. On paper, this seems incredibly hard to top, but The Thursday Murder Club has cast Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, David Tennant, Celia Imrie, and Richard E. Grant, which are only some of the huge actors attached to the project.

Knives Out 3 and The Thursday Murder Club‘s impressive casts will certainly add even more hype to their releases later this year and having that level of talent onboard will only help the films shine. Richard Osman’s story already has plenty of fanfare, and having so many experienced names ᴀssociated with the film means there are destined to be some excellent performances. Likewise, Knives Out 3 will follow two widely successful movies, and knowing the ensemble cast has worked previously for the franchise suggests the next installment is in safe hands, proving how great these murder mysteries should be.
