The Odyssey has added four new cast members to its growing ensemble. The Christopher Nolan movie is an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem of the same name and is set to be the Dark Knight and Dunkirk director’s most expensive movie yet, with an estimated budget of $250 million. The Odyssey cast already includes Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, and John Leguizamo.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, four new cast members have joined The Odyssey ahead of the beginning of principal pH๏τography. Three of these new cast members are previous Christopher Nolan collaborators, including Elliot Page (who played dreamscape designer Ariadne in Inception), Himesh Patel (who played the fixer Mahir in Tenet), and Bill Irwin (who voiced the robot TARS in Interstellar). Also joining the cast is Nolan newcomer Samantha Morton, a two-time Oscar nominee who is known for her roles in The Serpent Queen and The Walking ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. Their characters are currently unknown.

Nolan Is Branching Out Somewhat

The fact that the new Christopher Nolan movie will feature even more stars from his previous тιтles is not exactly a surprise. The director is known for frequently returning to the same stable of actors, having collaborated multiple times with quite a few stars. Some of his most frequent collaborators are Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Dunkirk), Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer, Inception, the Dark Knight trilogy, Dunkirk), and Michael Caine (Interstellar, Inception, the Dark Knight trilogy, The Prestige, Tenet, Dunkirk).

However, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey marks the first time that he has reunited with Page, Patel, and Irwin since their first appearances in one of his films. While it remains to be seen if the trio returns for more movies down the line, the ensemble cast of the movie sees the director potentially building up an even bigger roster of frequent collaborators.

With The Odyssey set to begin filming in February, it seems unlikely that many more actors will be announced for the project. Even newcomers to the director’s stable like Samantha Morton have long since proven themselves, as the actor – whose Oscar nominations came from her work in 1999’s Sweet and Lowdown and 2003’s In America – has proven to be a chameleonic presence across both the big and small screens.
