Hunter Schafer would rock Mystique’s signature look in the MCU’s X-Men movies, as suggested by an incredible fan art piece. The MCU’s X-Men movie is taking a while to arrive, but the foundations for the mutants’ official debut have been laid throughout the years. While the casting process for Marvel Studios’ MCU-born mutants may only be beginning to take shape, a few Hollywood stars and industry newcomers already look like strong candidates for some mutant character roles.
Artist @spdrmnkyxxiii imagines what Euphoria star Hunter Shafer would look like if she played Raven Darkölme a.k.a. Mystique in the MCU. Hunter Schafer’s Mystique is depicted mid-transformation, wearing Mystique’s classic white outfit and sporting her emblematic skull-shaped forehead jewel, as well as her traditionally short, loose bob haircut and one of her bright yellow snake-like eyes. What The Hunter Schafer Mystique Fan Art Means For The MCU’s X-Men
Hunter Schafer Could Be A Fantastic Mystique In The MCU
After her breakthrough role as Jules Vaughn in Euphoria, Hunter Schafer’s career is on the rise with roles such as Tigris Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and Gretchen in Cuckoo. Schafer is attached to the upcoming Blade Runner 2099 series, and she hasn’t joined any superhero movie franchise yet. At 26 years old, Hunter Schafer is the perfect age for a recurring role like Mystique in the MCU’s X-Men properties, which will likely begin to be released in 2028, once the Multiverse Saga has concluded.
Our Take On The Hunter Schafer Mystique Fan Art
Hunter Schafer’s Mystique Could Have Plenty Of Chances To Shine On Her Own
Rebecca Romjin’s Mystique was one of the highlights of Fox’s first X-Men trilogy. Then, Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique took a central role in X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Still, there are many differences between Fox’s Mystique and her comic book counterpart. For instance, neither Rebecca Romjin’s nor Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique had a mother-son relationship with Rogue, nor did they interact much with Mystique’s biological son Nightcrawler. Fox’s Mystique also never met Destiny, and she had an out-of-character friendship with both Magneto and Professor X.
Similarly to all the other X-Men and their villains, the MCU’s Mystique will have plenty of opportunities to experience brand-new stories that weren’t possible in Fox’s X-Men franchise. Mystique will be able to meet Carol Danvers (her first enemy in Marvel Comics), fight the Avengers, and join forces with other non-mutant villains and anti-heroes. The most evident difference between Fox’s and the MCU’s Mystique, of course, could be her physical appearance and outfit.
