Jake Gyllenhaal has worked with many of the best directors in the world, but in my opinion, this recently announced project could end up being one of the best movies of his career. When I first started watching movies religiously, Gyllenhaal was an actor I couldn’t get enough of. His 2014 movie Nightcrawler was released during my junior year of high school and completely changed how I view the art of acting (I still can’t believe Gylenhaal wasn’t nominated for an Oscar for Nightcrawler). In addition to Nightcrawler, some of Jake Gyllenhaal’s best movies include Donnie Darko, Zodiac, and Prisoners.
The aforementioned films prove that Gyllenhaal has great taste in directors. Gyllenhaal has already proven that he is one of the best actors of this century. However, his next film could be one of the most exciting of his career. It was recently revealed that Gyllenhaal will lead M. Night Shyamalan’s next movie. This proves Gyllenhaal is adding another acclaimed director to his resume. M. Night Shyamalan’s best movies include The Sixth Sense, Signs, and The Visit. They both have had impressive careers, which is why I believe Gyllenhaal and Shyamalan are a perfect actor/director combo.
Jake Gyllenhaal Starring In M. Night Shyamalan’s Next Movie Is A Fun Surprise
A Gyllenhaal & Shyamalan Team Up Is Delightful News
Not many details are currently known about Shyamalan’s next movie. The film doesn’t even have a тιтle, but it has been revealed that it is a supernatural romantic thriller based on an original story that Shyamalan co-created with author Nicholas Sparks. Almost all of Shyamalan’s movies have been completely original ideas, and the writer/director has a gift for coming up with unique premises. Therefore, no matter what the plot of the film is, Gyllenhaal will likely excel in the project.
I have been thrilled to see Gyllenhaal working with so many different directors in recent years. In my opinion, Gyllenhaal is doing an exceptional job of diversifying his filmography by working with visionary directors. In the past few years, Gyllenhaal has starred in movies helmed by directors such as Michael Bay, Guy Ritchie, and Doug Liman. Not all of Gyllenhaal’s recent movies have outstanding reviews, but his willingness to work with different directors has made him one of the most interesting actors currently working.
There’s Another Aspect Of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Upcoming Movie That I Never Would’ve Expected
M. Night Shyamalan Is Collaborating With Nicholas Sparks
I think Gyllenhaal and Shyamalan will make a perfect duo because Shyamalan is also an artist who is not afraid to take risks. Movies like The Sixth Sense and Signs are now considered classics, but some of Shyamalan’s more recent films have proven to be quite divisive. 2024’s Trap, for example, did not receive the greatest reviews but was a box office success because of its unique premise. Therefore, even if some of Shyamalan’s movies don’t receive the greatest reviews, it is admirable that he strives to tell the most interesting and gripping stories possible.
While Shyamlan writes his next movie, Sparks will be writing a novel based on the same idea.
For his next movie, Shyamalan is taking one of the most unique risks of his career by teaming up with romance author Nicholas Sparks. Sparks has written books such as The Notebook, Dear John, and The Longest Ride. While Shyamlan writes his next movie, Sparks will be writing a novel based on the same idea. Shyamalan and Sparks are a truly unexpected duo, but I think it’s possible that them teaming up could lead to a revolutionary story.
Why Jake Gyllenhaal Is Perfect For Leading An M. Night Shyamalan Movie
They Will Make A Supernatural Romantic Thriller Together
I’m honestly shocked that Gyllenhaal and Shyamalan haven’t already teamed up throughout their careers. Shyamalan is famous for writing and directing some of the most intriguing thriller movies of all time. Ever since early in his career, Gyllenhaal has also shown an interest in thriller films. Gyllenhaal has starred in thriller movies such as the aforementioned Donnie Dark, Zodiac, and Prisoners, as well as Enemy, and Nocturnal Animals.

While a lot of Gyllenhaal’s films are more grounded thrillers, Donnie Darko was an early movie in his career that featured heavy supernatural elements. Shyamalan is a filmmaker who has included supernatural elements in most of his films, and it has been confirmed that his upcoming movie will be yet another supernatural thriller. Therefore, their previous projects give me hope that Jake Gyllenhaal and M. Night Shyamalan will create an unforgettable movie together.
