Netflix has revealed a series of new Tyler Perry projects in development. The multihyphenate Hollywood talent has previously struck deals with streamers, including Prime Video and Netflix, to produce movies for their platforms. Most recently, Perry helmed The Six Triple Eight as part of his creative partnership with Netflix. The WW2 period drama is about a group of 855 Black women, who band together to fix a multi-year backlog of undelivered mail. The Six Triple Eight has done well on Netflix and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
As per Netflix, the platform now has new projects scheduled with Perry. One of these projects will be a Madea movie тιтled Madea’s Destination Wedding. Also premiering in 2025 is a new Perry comedy series, She the People. In addition, Netflix revealed the full lineup of his projects for this year, including Beauty in Black, Straw, and R&B. Netflix also released first-look pH๏τos. Check out the pH๏τos below:

Perry’s Relationship With Netflix Could Continue
Netflix also revealed the logline for Madea’s Destination Wedding and She the People. The logline for Madea’s Destination Wedding is that “Brian and his ex-wife Debrah are shocked to learn their daughter Tiffany is engaged to a rapper she met on a yacht—and the wedding is in two weeks. Madea and her crew head to the Bahamas, stirring up chaos and heartwarming fun.” She the People is a government-based story, whose logline can be found below:
Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson runs a successful campaign and now must figure out how to thrive under a Sєxist and condescending governor while attempting to keep her family in line now that they’re all in the public eye.
These project announcements are a good sign of Perry’s relationship with Netflix. The director-producer has already been involved in projects such as The Six Triple Eight and Mea Culpa, which exemplify his strong collaboration with the streamer. This also benefits Netflix, as Perry’s projects clearly draw in strong viewership. If Madea’s Destination Wedding, She the People, and the other 2025 Perry projects do well, this relationship could continue.

Madea Is Making A Franchise Transition
This news also cements the transition of the Madea movies to a streaming format. In their original days, The Diary of a Mad Black Woman and its Madea sequels were put in theaters. This changed with A Madea Homecoming in 2022, becoming the first in the franchise to release directly onto Netflix. As evidenced by 2024’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Netflix has previously done well with big-screen franchise sequels, which the streamer could likely repeat with Perry‘s Madea’s Destination Wedding.
